West End's Funny Girl opens tonight

I'm on my way.

Very moving play experiences

Flare path, in the westend. I was at a midweek matinee and I was surrounded by older ladies who kept murmuring in recognition at the description of things (like the German planes sounding different).  For once it wasn't annoying but added to theexperience.

THE COLOR PURPLE Previews

Cynthia did a singular sensations interview before she left and took us through the vocal and posture changes she used to age Celie.

Out of context they were fabulous but I didn't remember it being as dramatic a change watching the show, there would have been an in-between stage I guess.

The Color Purple Announcement Today

Utterly delighted for Cynthia. Hope I can get over to see it again.
Could London critics be giving Chocolate shade due to Matilda Tony snub?

The lyrics for the introducing the kids songs and the Oompa loompas are very witty, or at least I remember thinking that when I saw it but couldnt repeat anything now. The music is totally instantly forgettable and its a real shame.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

It ran about 2hrs 40mins last night including interval.
There were no stops which was amazing for first preview given the number of big set changes.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

There are very strict laws for working children in the UK and so shared roles are essential due to the limited hours they are allowed to work.
WICKED announces 10th anniversary cruise

I sincerely hope they are quadrupling the recommended tips.
Jonathan Coulton Explains How GLEE Ripped Off His Cover Song - And Why He's Not Alone

I felt far more upset for the guy who had his choreography ripped off.
McKellen/Stewart Waiting for Godot on Bway

I had reservations before seeing it at the haymarket as its never been an interesting play for me but McKellen made it a masterclass and I found it utterly fascinating.

Ronald Pickup was also amazing.

one Annie vs. four Matildas?

In london we have multiple Debbies, Michaels and Ballet girls to comply with the limit on hours a child can work.

It always stands out more to have multiples of kids because they dont tend to understudy from other roles as adults do.

What Was The Worst Piece Of Theatrical Trash You Sat Through This Year?

Viva forever, I saw a lot of rubbish this year but that was the worst I paid full price for, utter trash.
13 Original London Cast Recording

It was just a weeks run by the NYMT. It was fabulous and I wish they had been able to do a proper run.
west end

The Donmars new scheme is some some front row (mostly sides) are on sale on mondays for £10 for 2 weeks time.

They're Actually Bringing FLASHDANCE To Broadway

It wasnt packed on tour when I saw it in bristol, half empty house on a weekend.

Its fluff but not particularly interesting fluff, a couple of fun numbers, I felt no need to see it in the west end.

Robin De Jesus in costume for La Cage...

I barely noticed 'our' cagelles faces, too busy gawping at their legs.

And despite the grit and grime of the club everyone found plenty of joy, la cage was one of londons most uplifting shows and many of us miss it sorely.

re: Dirty Dancing the Musical Chicago Reviews

Saw it couple of weeks ago in London, just after cast change. Its just strange, the leads not singing leaves you just confused. Some great dancing though. Overall not worth paying for and very sad people do when we have much better shows.
re: Waddingham to Star in Nunn's West End NIGHT MUSIC

After Gone with the wind am dreading it too.
Not too keen on Lipman.

Be nice if it works and transfers to a west end house, transfers of budget shows may be the best/safest option for the current climate.

re: Trent K. as Billy Elliot?

In an interview with a Billy(cant remember which, one who recently finished in london I think) they said there were several keys for the songs and you knew when you were on the lowest one your time is almost up.

re: Who are those who see shows multiple times, and how??

In london not NY, way past student age - and I couldnt afford to go to the theatre that often when I was.

I'll do day seats at weekends if taking a friend. I'll pay full price when I want to know exactly where I'm sitting and go on a particular day, cheap seats when I'm not too sure about a show(the top circles often have great views) and for most shows there are good offers if you go mid week.

I dont tend to use tkts as I like to go after work and know where I'm sitting.
