So today i saw Avenue Q... got my ticket at TKTS because i lost lotto... waited for an hour at the TKTS booth because i was bored and had nothing to do... so i just sat there figuring out if i should see a movie or something then Ave. Q popped up and i bought a ticket... then it disappeared... lucky me, i guess...
anyways... i can see why this musical beat out wicked... i loved the show... loved it ever since i heard the cast album... granted there are some slow parts... the musical itself was wonderful... Howie Michael Smith was a great Princeton and others.. AYmee Garcia was great as Kate... but her Lucy T. Slut was hillarious to me.... loved how she changed her voice so perfectly... Haneefa Wood was also good as Gary but maybe i am so used to hearing Natalie on the CD who has this really distinct voice... by Haneefa was excellent... and my favorite being Ann Sanders as Christmas Eve... this woman is fantastic... always good to see Asians on the stage...
NExt up.. WEdding Singer and The COlor Purple... both on wednesday... with or course one being matinee other the evening!
EDIT: OOOOOOPS.... how the heck did i even put the wrong date... yeah it was July 3, 2006

How about the new Brian (I forget his name). Was Jen there?
So you've never seen it before? I was just wondering how Barrett compared to Howie...

It said 4/3/05 in the subject so I'm all "Ooh! That's the day I went to see Avenue Q!" But I got all excited for nothing.
Anyway, glad you had a good time!

I'm confused.

Posted: 7/4/06 at 12:19amSomeone wrote a review for 4/3/05 today?

Thats what I was wondering.
Plus, Howie was in it and so was Aymee which means it was today...or most likely today since Howie took over the role today and Aymee was in for Mary yesterday...
re: Avenue Q 4/3/05 quasi-review#6
Posted: 7/4/06 at 12:23amMaybe someone had another date on their mind.
re: Avenue Q 4/3/05 quasi-review#7
Posted: 7/4/06 at 12:24amIt wouldn't even be 4/3/06...that was over 3 months ago.
re: Avenue Q 4/3/05 quasi-review#8
Posted: 7/4/06 at 1:20amThey obviously meant 7/3--c'mon people get over it. LOL
re: Avenue Q 4/3/05 quasi-review#9
Posted: 7/4/06 at 1:23amThat's what I thought initially, but they managed to make a typo on the month AND the year? Considering the thread title is all of five words, that seemed a little extreme.

Posted: 7/4/06 at 1:26amOh lol I didn't notice the year. Yea that's kind of sad. Continue to make fun.

yeah... continue to make fun... i deserved that... i was just typing really fast and it was like 2am and i'm not ued to my friend's laptop and her keyboard is small... i've made so many mistakes on my e-mails so far.... but that's still no excuse, right? OH WELL! but at least i corrected it now on the front... haha
as for Jennifer Barnhart... yeah she was out of the show and Becca Ayers was in and i really enjoyed her performance as the other characters...
Evan Harrington was Brian... he was great in the role... how new to the role is he? or was that based on you thinking this was in 2005... haha

Posted: 7/4/06 at 10:38amoh and does anyone know why they don't include the musical numbers in the playbil?? they also do this for spelling bee as well (or at least in the playbill for the san francisco production)
re: Avenue Q 4/3/05 quasi-review#13
Posted: 7/4/06 at 1:42pm^Probably because they don't want the audience inspecting the song titles. Remember, a good amount of jokes come from the characters first singing the song titles ("Little Bit Racist", "B.A. in English", "Porn", "Loud as You Want", I could go on and on)...

Posted: 7/4/06 at 6:40pmI agree that the song titles (and songs themselves) provide the majority of humor. I listened to the recording many many times before going to see the show. When I finally got the opportunity, I was pretty let down. I didn't think it was that great. The music is what makes the show. The rest just isn't that thrilling.

Posted: 7/4/06 at 8:15pmGlad to hear the show is in good shape. I will be seeing it for the first time this weekend. Actually, Evan was a good friend of mine in college and I haven't seen him since. I'm thinking about waiting at the stage door to say hello.

Posted: 7/4/06 at 8:23pmYeah, maybe it's just me, but Springtime for Hitler and Keep it Gay (both from The Producers) sound like hilarious songs (and they are) from the moment you hear it, or in this case, read it. I can understand why they wouldn't have the song titles.
MARIAN: Well, what would you like to take out?
HAROLD HILL: The librarian.

Posted: 7/4/06 at 10:46pmI know it is going back a few messages, but the original thing said 7 /3 /06 and only the re's had a messed up date.
re: Avenue Q 4/3/05 quasi-review#19
Posted: 7/4/06 at 10:53pmYeah? Because when the person realized their typo they went back and edited the title of the original post with the correct date. The original post also had the 4/3/05 date when it was psoted.
