OrdinarySTUPIDbox, if you want to talk about Wicked you should go start another thread. This one is about Avenue Q.

Dear God above, can someone else explain to this person what hopefully anyone else can clearly see?
As for the plot...there isnt really one, its more of a "theme." is what MissNY had to say. I simply repeated it! Also, I never said I hated "Avenue Q" If anyone needs to get a grip here...need I finsih this?

Codine, take a deep breath and calm down. It's just a message board.
OrdinaryJukebox, what you describe is all cause and effect.
Cause: The situation months ago, when there were 533 new threads about the exact same Wicked-related topics per day, plus every general thread got posts about Wicked in it.
Effect: People who actually wanted to talk about something other than Wicked started getting a little pissed that a board that was supposedly about Broadway was looking more like a Wicked fan convention. Backlash ensued, and threads about Wicked were instantly subject to harsh treatment.
Effect of the Effect: People who post about Wicked are automatically apologetic in anticipation of being yelled at for posting about the show.
The lessons we can take from all this? Even if you like a show, you don't need to make 5 threads about its stars' every sneeze. Irrationality breeds irrationality. And on a good board, some semblence of equilibrium usually takes hold over time.

Please excuse me for a moment while I throw up all this information that I've read.
#1. Wherever you are sitting for the Money Song, there will be people to come around a collect. If you up in the mezzanine, there will be understudies to come and collect. You may not get a chance to get your money in because it's a quick like 30 seconds before they leave but they do come to every section of the theater.
#2. The plot/theme thing really isn't a huge deal. To me, there is really no plot to Avenue Q but there is a theme which to my understanding is something like: Subjects that are not often brought up. The subjects they bring up in Avenue Q are not everyday subjects people bring up and mostly thought of as Taboo subjects. This show happens to be quite educational is a fun, entertaining way.
#3. The Wicked fans are far far more pushy than any other fans of a specific show. If you seriously go back and read the Wicked messages vs all the other Broadway shows you will see that. Plus, almost every day there is a new Wicked thread either started by a newbie or an oldie. There are plenty people who come join who enjoy Wicked or another show that don't just start a thread on their favorite show. Perhaps the Wicked fans fall under a certain age where they feel they need to do this to show that 'they are better.' I don't really know but to compare the Wicked fans and fans of any other show is just not right at all. If you want to compare apples and apples than do it with something like Avenue Q and DRS. But comparing Avenue Q with Wicked is comparing apples with oranges.

#33re: Avenue Q
Posted: 2/20/05 at 1:13amThey're both musicals.
#34re: Avenue Q
Posted: 2/20/05 at 1:13amThat I know...but I don't consider Avenue Q and DRS to be apples and apples. Oh, Lord.

I was being sarcastic.
I don't think they're alike at all.

I said it once already, there IS a plot! Everybody comes out and there lives suck and through the GUESS WHAT, PLOT, you figure out wether Nicky and Rod are going to end up together or living together since Rod kicks him out which is ALSO part of the plot!! And since Rod is gay (which isn't his fault) he comes out and decides he can't be with Nicky because Nicky is straight, but he ends up going back with him anyway because Nicky found him aboyfriend. This is all a PLOT. It it wasn't a polt it would just be a bunch of songs and puppets and stuff but there is a plot. Just like any sitcom on tv has. there's also a plot about wether or not Brian and Chrismas eve are going to get married - AND THEY DO! Yes, another PLOT! And where does the money come from to get the school that Kate wants to buy? I'm not going to give away the answer here becase some people like O.J. haven't seen it and I don't want to spoil it, but it's not from when they collect money from the audience, that goes to Broadway Cares. There's also the PLOT about Kate who doesn't have a boyfriend and she meets Princeton and they have a PLOT together where they end up together at the end , or maybe they dont, I'm not going to say, but if there wasn't a plot you wouldn't c are.
This thread was suposed to be about if Avenue Q has a plot, and it does. So end of discussion. You people are getting WAY O.T. especially OJ.

I wasn't talking about how they were alike in the way of the 'theme' of the show. I was trying to say that DRS and Avenue Q are more closely related on this board than that of Wicked. Basically I could have taken Avenue Q and any other show. My point was there is many more posts/thread about Wicked than there is of Avenue Q or any other show.
Hence the Avenue Q and DRS 'apples to apples'
and
Avenue Q and Wicked 'apples to oranges' (in the number of post/threads.)

Posted: 2/20/05 at 1:33amUmmm. Codine2, you pretty much have away A LOT of the plot of the show already. So, if your aim was to not spoil it, you spoiled it for people who haven't seen it. And Rod doesn't throw Nicky out because he's straight and doesn't feel he can be with him, that is completely wrong.

Well SORRY!!!!!! GreatWhite Way, but I was trying to make a point! You see?!!! If Avenue Q doesn't have a plot then how could I have given a lot of the plot away!?! It must have a plot. Thank you for making my point for me! God!
I LOVE AVENUE Q!

I RUV AVENUE Q!
Sorry if I ruined the plot for anyone. Just don't read above if you don't want a SPOILER>... But then again how could I ruin the plot if there ISN'T A PLOT!!!!!? YOU SEE?!!!!!

Please, take 2 steps back away from your computer. Take a few deep breaths and I think this could stay calmer.
Codine2- I love your icon...very creative if I must say so myself. I see you are quite a new member. It seems your intentions of joining BWW was not food a good pupose (no pun intended). I think there is a definite way of making your point without having a fit over something somebody says. In your writing, you seem very upset and angry over some opinions.
Opinions are people's thought about something. Opinions are not right or wrong. Whether there is a plot or a theme really is not a big deal- at all. Some of us may disagree, some may agree. If you want a relation to Avenue Q, here you are. "...Everyone's a little bit racist sometimes. Doesn't mean we go around committing hate crimes." Now, has that pulled some strings in your mind that maybe your going a bit too far?
Just because you feel differently than some of us feel, doesn't give you the right to attack us and have these 'posts fits.'
Understand?
We would love you to be a kind member of BWW and perhaps bring some of your insight to us in a mature manner.
Edit: Codine- after basically yelling at GreatWhiteShark that he was wrong, why would you say " GreatWhite Way, is that a picture of you? You're cute..." To me it just seems a bit strange that one post you yelling at him, and the next you are complimenting him.

I have seen Avenue Q Codine...more than you have. And just because Rod can't be with Nicky doesn't mean they can't live together. And that is NOT why Rod throws him out.SPOILERS BELOW!!!
Rod throws Nicky out because he is so insulted that Nicky told the entire wedding party that he is gay. Rod is so shocked and appauled at Nicky that he throws him out. Rod does not throw Nicky out because he is straight.

I don't know whart your talking about. I'm very calm except that certain people here make me MAD!!!
The fact that Avenue Q has a plot is not just my opinnion. it's like saying that your favorite musical doesn't have Munchkins. or whether or not it has songs. or that it's good or not. either it does or it doesn't.
I don't know why you're trying to say I'm comiting a hate crime, if that's what you're saying. I don't hate anyone. I get along with everyone (except when they make me MAD!)
I was just pointing out how Avenue Q has a plot because people here were asking. and I'm contributing something use ful to tthis group. You see?
If Avenue Q didn't have a plot, what would the whole thing about Princeton and Kate be called? a concert?
I don't see why you have to single me out and attack me personally (except about my icon, thank you)
It's just not fair that people here can criticzie Avenue Q for no good reason when it's the best show in the world and they think they can get away with saying STUPID things like it doesn't have a plot. Oh yeah, does it not have puppets either?
and even worse, its from people who even admit they haven't seen Avenue Q.
Avenue Q means a lot to me. Kate Monster is me. I don't like to see it get critzcized or I get mad.
why don't you go tell OJ to stay calmer. I see he hasn't been posting much lately. maybe bec ause I totally made my point that Avenue Q DOES have a plot. when he sees it he'll know that and until he sees it he should just stop judging things he hasn't seen yet.
who is Napoleon Dynomite?

WHAT
YOU
ARE
SAYING!
You've never heard of the movie, Napoleon Dynamite? Well, he's amazing - and hysterical, and he ends most of his sentences with "GOD!"
And you don't have to end every post with "I RUV AVENUE Q." It's obnoxious.

Great White Shark, are you going to give away the whole plot? Even if you say spoliers, I don't think it's fair to give away the important parts of the plot like you're doing. you should take 2 breaths and step away from the computer and try not to do that so much. But I'll forgive you because you're cute :)
p.s. if there wasn't a plot, you couldn't give away the plot! Right?!! YOU SEE?!
IT SUCKS TO BE WICKED!
