Please get over yourselves. Giving up on Broadway because a jukebox musical won is silly.
I'm sorry for being harsh but it's just true: You cannot award something that is so subjective.
I'm asking sincerely here - does the ATW have a mission statement? Or some sort of guideline that the awards should go to the shows that demonstrate artistic achievement? Or do they just say "vote for the 'Best' and good luck!"?
I prefer the term that the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards use (as well as the Jeff Awards in Chicago): OUTSTANDING, not "best." In art, there is no such thing as "best." There's not even really any such thing as "good" or "bad." There are only people's opinions.
Of course, those who agree with the awards given generally do think they matter...
