BCEFA after-the-show Pleas

Posted: 10/29/05 at 12:33amActors do earn a flat weekly rate, but if they go into overtime (I think over three hours) they get paid more for that one night.

Posted: 10/29/05 at 7:58amI think the overtime reference might have been to the stagehands and other staff - not the actors.

Posted: 10/30/05 at 8:32amDavid Hyde Pierce did the plea at Spamalot yesterday and was very funny. They were selling the Holiday CDs for $20. For $40 you could get an autographed playbill, which I heard they sold out of very quickly and for $500 you and your party could go on stage and take a picture with the cast. They only allowed 4 of those, not sure if they sold them all. If it was a little cheaper I would have done it.

Posted: 10/30/05 at 11:12amJan did the Chitty plea last night...it was hilarious. they were selling the CDs and a signed poster (i think.) and she said whoever paid the most amount of money, the "sewer children" would come and clean your house. She also mentioned the donations buckets, but asked people NOT to put thier children in, because they don't fetch enough money online! That woman is too much!

Aw, Jan Maxwell is the best. Haha.
I wonder if RENT is selling their typical stuff, or if there's more considering the movie?

Posted: 10/30/05 at 10:53pmfyi went to see Chicago tonight, no after the show anything there- not for BC/EFA, or mention of Brooke's last night or anything either..
re: BCEFA after-the-show Pleas#33
Posted: 10/31/05 at 12:00amAltar Boyz has started to do this now, too. They're only selling the CD ($20) and taking donations as far as I'm aware. :)

Oh, Jan is the best...
Well, I thought David Turner's plea (IN MY LIFE) was pretty great too!

for $500 you and your party could go on stage and take a picture with the cast.
What what WHAT? That's INSANITY. Now I'm all for the good cause and everything but WTF. People actually pay money for that? Wait, what am I talking about, I've seen other things go for more insane prices when it comes to BC/EFA but STILL!!!!
As for Chicago, they're so over it on SOOOO many levels.

David told the audience we had all been so generous with out money for coming to see the show, but hoped we could find it in our hearts to give anyways. Poor guy...
He then proceeded to push the signed posters that will be valuable when Ciarra (sp?) wins American Idol in a few years.

Hehe, I was at Spelling Bee for the Sat mat and thought the board idea was really cute. One of the spellers was this 10 year old boy and his mom bought it for him. Jesse Tyler Ferguson did it when I went and read off a few song titles for the carols CD and made this really weird face at the Woman in White's selection.
Jan was hilarious. angelic1 asked if the sewer children did dorms.
Wanting life but never knowing how

If Spelling Bee is still selling in Novemeber, I'll likely buy a windowcard and a board.
I love the BCEFA shilling. I get some fun stuff and it's for a good cause.

About buying things at times other than after the show, it depends on the theater, I think. There have been a couple times where I have been walking by a theater (usually during a show or in between shows) and I've gone to the stage door and they've been more than happy to sell me the BC/EFA items. I haven't done it since the last time around but it worked at The Producers, Wicked and The Boy from Oz (when it was showing at the Imperial).
I was at DRS on Thursday night and they did nothing....

Posted: 10/31/05 at 9:51amI was at CHICAGO this past Thursday and they did a great funny "impromptu" (found out later from Debra that it was all rehearsed) bit with Debra auctioning off Brooke's earrings - it finally ended up being Brooke's earrings, a backstage tour, and a pic with Brooke, the package going for $500. They were also selling Carols for a Cure and signed windowcards.

Posted: 10/31/05 at 9:52amThey do this all through the holiday season, right? There are some things I'd like to guarantee I'll get.

I wonder how Rath got the Monk to fess up...
My bf was telling me something about Patti Lupone refusing to do a plea after Noises Off, which is his reason for not liking her? Anyone hear the same?
re: BCEFA after-the-show Pleas#45
Posted: 10/31/05 at 1:41pmI was at Fiddler on the Roof on Thursday and Rosie did a very funny speech. After curtain call, she said, "Alright everybody, sit down for Act III of the longest show on Broadway." They were selling signed posters for $100, the Carols for a Cure CD, a Playbill signed by Harvey and Rosie for $20, a Fiddler pin for $20, and perhaps a few other things that I don't remember.

re: BCEFA after-the-show Pleas#47
Posted: 10/31/05 at 1:49pmTrailer Park auctioned off a cowboy hat that was an openning night gift to the cast last night (Sunday @ 7pm).
re: BCEFA after-the-show Pleas#48
Posted: 10/31/05 at 2:10pmI don't remember where I read this (maybe in an old post?) but Patti LuPone doesn't like asking the audience for money because she feels they already paid a lot of money to be there. Not sure if that's true or not, or if my mind totally just invented that.

Last night Jan tried to auction of Kevin Cahoon's services as a babysitter for Halloween night.
If only I had children.....or a house.
