BEWARE OF JERSEY BOYS RUSH! — Page 3

I was at Tarzan rush in April and there wasa girl waiting who was then joined by her friend. Soon after two more people "joined her," aka cut the line. I was so pissed because I was behind this charming group and they got the last tickets.

That really sucks, WickedGeek28. Fortunately nothing like that has ever happened to me, but if it did something would've been(probably not be me, but by my sister). I don't care who you are, you have to wait in the line like everyone else. People who cut in line should be thrown out of the line.
Also, the box office guy is really nice and when I went in May, I gave him my student id and saw it said South Brunswick on it and he started talking to me about the Vikings and how his school used to beat up on the Vikings and I just started talking about the way the sports were going now and everything. That has never happened to me cause usually no one knows who the Vikings are or SBHS.
Is there really some lady who writes her name on a piece of paper to save her spot in the rush line? I've never really seen any weird fans or people at any show, but that's really stupid that she does that, a piece of paper doesn't save a spot.

As for the Asian lady... she is actually a student. She is quite crazy though. I think her name is Doreen and she has seen the show "as many times as John's girlfriend" as she proudfully boasts. When I met her in the rush line though she stayed the entire time like everyone else though.

But that's the point. You've seen it (or your hypothetical person has seen it). It's great that you like it to want to see it again, so why would you want to deny letting someone else see it and fall in love with it just because you want to be selfish and see it as many times as humanly possible? And ONLY because you can manage to get there early? It's nice that so many people have all this free time to sit around and do nothing, but what gives you the right to hog all the tickets to a show just because you can get there early? Liking a show doesn't give the right to see it at the expense of others. That's just selfish.

Thinking back to what happened with the original RENT rush: there were people camping out overnight (in February weather), people literally lining up at the end of one performance to get rush tickets for the next day, and of course scalpers began paying people to wait in line and get rush tickets.
It just got out of hand, and that is when they converted to a lottery (still in my opinion the most fair way to give out discounted tickets).

She's seen Michael like 5 or 6 times I would guess, but she stage doors every time she has seen the show so chances are she has met him around 20 some odd times. She usually leaves a note for Dan Reichard with her seat number on it so he'll wave to her. Not like they can't see everyone in the rush seats anyways. Last time she was there Bobby Spencer acted sort of afraid of her, as did John.

That is really incosiderate(spelling??) of that group of six that bought out all of the student tickets, but if they saw it the night before how were they able to student rush it again? I thought the August Wilson Theatre had in the policy that you could only get 8 tickets...oh wait ignore that. The box office shouldn't allow people who just saw it like the night before, rush it again the following day and there is no real reason that someone should have to rush the same show more than once a month.
You know there shouldn't be like BIG groups student rushing this. When I student rush it, it's usually me, my mom, and my sister(who everytime we go, wants to get the first seat on the side by the staircase, that's her favorite seat especially when John and Daniel are in).

Anyways, I HAVE seen that woman, but she started waiting from 6AM on, and had someone with her. JLY was on that show (matinee), but not the night.
worrell4077, that's a great seat :). I personally like A5, the first rush seat on the left. When Daniel, Jennifer, and Donnie are in the show, I get winked, waved, and looked at :).
I miss this show already!
ETA: For those that want an update on how the rush line is: I got there at 10:40 yesterday and was second in line (by a very narrow margin). All the spots were filled up by about noon.

What time do they start selling rush tickets for a Friday show?
Edit: Nevermind, I read they go on sale at 4:30. If it was at like 2, I'd have a chance. Oh-well.

I also have another question. My cousin from the Philippines is visiting and she's interested in watching JB. She's a college student and has a student ID from there. Would the box office accept that?

The only reason my sister loves that seat is the fact that during "Apple Of My Eye", John's sitting there watching them(The one time we had that seat, she was like hyperventalating), that and Daniel pointed at her at the end of "Walk Like A Man" cause she had a Michigan University shirt on(For those of you who didn't know, Daniel went to Michigan.) It was funny to because he just pointed at her while holding his jacket and it kinda looked like he was going to give her his jacket.
This is kinda funny but John emailed me back after I sent him a congratulations email and I mentioned in my reply that I was going to see the show on the 23rd and yada yada yada. So, I was recently on AOL checking my mail and doing some other stuff when I get another email. It was from John and all it said was "See You Then". It was really cool, he's such a nice guy.

Michael, by your same logic, what if a person does the lotto every night? Sure he/she may not win every night, but you got to figure they'll win multiple times. Meanwhile, someone who would love to see the show has one night to lotto. Gotta figure chances for them are bad.
At least with rush if they really, really want to see it, they can have a good chance to get the tickets. If they're on vacation, they likely have time to wait on the rush line...and workers can take a personal day. Rush isn't perfect, there are flaws, but at least you have a bit of control as to whether you see the show or not. Look at Wicked lotto now. With all the people there, no one can plan on winning. say someone would travel from the suburbs to see Jersey Boys...they do the rush line, figuring if they're there early enough, they'll probably see it. But no way the same person would commute in to see Wicked if their only chance is lotto. Just my opinion.

I got to the theatre Saturday morning around 8.30 and the SRO line had *just* filled up and it was with a large group, so SRO might be an option. I opted for cancellation tickets. They sold 9 tickets to the cancellation line right when the B.O. opened. I was the 10th in line, but at around 11.15, they opened the window and started selling tickets. I got great seats. By the time I got to the theatre for the show, I saw that everyone in the cancellation line with me, was no longer in line, so i'm guessing they got tickets. If you have the cash, and you get there, even on a Saturday between 8-9, and you're willing to wait, you'll get tickets.
*SIDE NOTE*
I also just wanna say that even with all the hype for this show and the maddening rush for tickets, the B.O. staff at this theatre couldn't be nicer. YAAAY for them!

Well, another thing is, she's from the Philippines and she has a student ID from there. Does the box office care if they're out of country students?

I was actually thinking about going tomorrow, since weekdays seem a little easier and I want to take my dad and a 7pm show works out the best.
Has anyone ever rushed Tuesdays before? Is the policy any different? What time would tickets go on sale? Is anyone going to be out/on vacation, that people know of? Also, what's the running time of the show?
And seeing what everyone posted, assuming I got there 9:30ish, I'd be fine, right?

bitey dog, I think you're all set. Tomorrow shouldn't be too bad. None of the main guys should be out. There may be a chance Peter Gregus may be...not sure about that.
9:30ish for a Tuesday is good! The tix go on sale at 3:30 on Tuesdays.
