So will Billy Elliot Break the Previously record held by THE PRODUCERS?

short answer, no.
Long Answer, not even close.
Did we really need a whole new thread for this?

I'm sorry, is this thread necessary?
I was expecting numerous amounts of absurd threads tonight but this, well this even surprised me.
I believe that it is impossible to break the record since a number of their nominations are in the same category.
But really: a whole new thread for that????

No, its nominated in every category but lead actress, so it has 13 chances (excluding ties) to win.
Billy..NO..Next To Normal..YES!
I think it would be amazing if it did just because I don't like The Producers and think its overly hyped!

oh yeah, cause Billy isn't overhyped or anything.
Billy will certainly be the big winner tonight. I think 12 awards is possible. They won 10 Drama Desks and were not nominated for Set Design and Leading Actor there (they're likely to win them tonight). Then again, they weren't up against Next to Normal at the Drama Desks. I've always felt as if a sweep was inevitable, and people may be saying it's not going to happen just because they don't want it to happen. If I'm wrong, so be it, but Billy is a show to root for, a feel-good musical, a musical that makes grown men cry. Voters will surely fall in love with it. I truly enjoyed Next to Normal and Hair, so if those shows win more than just Leading Actress and Best Revival, respectively, I wouldn't be upset.
I am rooting for Haydn hardcore though. I saw yesterday's matinee and she was absolutely brilliant. Greg was all kinds of wonderful too. If he wins tonight, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Overhyped is an opinion. I think In the Heights is overhyped. Many think The Producers is overhyped. Some think Next to Normal or Passing Strange or Spring Awakening or Grey Gardens is overhyped. There are also many people who love every aspect of each of these shows. It happens. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all get over it and just embrace and respect our differences in opinion?

Steven,
Next To Normal, Spring Awakening, and In The Heights are some of my favorite shows...and while I do agree Spring Awakening may a bit over hyped..BUT they deserve it! they are all amazing shows!
O I greatly enjoyed Next to Normal and Spring Awakening and moderately enjoyed In the Heights. I believe Billy deserves all of its accolades so far. It's one of my favorite shows I've seen in a long time. I think it's brilliant. I will certainly respect your love of those three shows! :)

blah SA and BEare oberblown messes.
So so far Sound, Sets, Lights and Orchestrations (tie w/N2N)?
That makes 4 out of 13?
+ Choreography = 5?

yeah, the voters have found a new way to disgrace themselves.
Too bad for Hunter and Jeff.
I know. What are the voters smoking?
Six is already a nice number. So congrats to Billy Elliot so far! And I'm absolutely thrilled about the tie for orchestrations! :)
