'BILLY ELLIOT' to open at the Imperial Theater next summer??

According to Wikipedia..."The musical will open at Sydney's Capitol Theatre on 16th November 2007 (with the Australian Media Premiere on 13 Dec) and on Broadway at the Imperial Theatre in summer 2008."

Is this 100% true or just a rumor? Because I remember hearing something about it moving here but don't remember hearing any specific theaters/dates...?

As far as I know, the Imperial has been confirmed for some time now. As for the dates, apparently next summer was set, but you never know.

You can't trust anything on Wikipedia as hard fact!

It's definitely planned here for 2008, though it's in the fall rather than summer. Here's a quote from the official site of the musical, which already has a section devoted to the Broadway prodcution: "The show is scheduled to open Fall 2008 with rehearsals beginning April 2008." I suppose it's possible that previews will begin at the end of the summer. They had quite a long preview period in London.

What will they put in the Imperial in the meantime. I suggest In the Heights or 9 to 5 if they don't go in the Richard Rogers Theatre because they seem like they'd have limited runs and close after 6 months. Then again, that's pure speculation.

The Imperial is MASSIVE for IN THE HEIGHTS.

And 9 TO 5 is NOT a limited run, so they'd want to pick a theatre they can stay in.

Here we go again with people naming random theatres without knowing how big they are.

MungoGypsy - Perhaps you have the definitions of speculating and "making things up" confused because no one has ever said anything about 9 to 5 being a limited run.

I didn't mean as a scheduled limited run, I was speculating one whether it would end up running for a limited time which we won't find out until someone posts a review if they went to one of the readings. Sorry for being confusing, I'll try to better explain myself for the future :)
