BLONDE and MUSIK to perform at Tonys?- Page 3

I know they were apparently robbed of their Tony slot, but if they didn't perform, they showed a very long clip of the show, not a montage (spelling?) but of that dancing on the piano keys song, and State Fair also got to show an extended clip of "Oh I Know, All I Owe, I Owe Ioway.." Then they should do that with Legally Blonde and Lovemusik. Show extended clips of one song from the show. Just don't have them perform live, but show a recording of "omigod, you guys." It looks like legally Blonde went all out recording their numbers to send out.

Wouldn't they do that anyway? Show pre-taped clips of every show from this year? THAT is fair but, having them live would probably cause a riot. Does PBS still do that preshow thing?

In recent years I remember at the most 10 to 15 second clips of shows, but something long and substantial for Legally Blonde would be...OH I JUST WANT THEM TO PERFORM!

I think everybody understands why Fantasia might be performing... and no one will think its unfair. They'll think it's to get ratings.

Sorry, totally disagree- I think it is just as unfair for The Color Purple to get to perform this year, in a year when it is not nominated (hell- not even eligible), as it would have been for Legally Blonde and/or LoveMusik to perform this year. LB and/or LM could have brought in some additional ratings too- it's ok for the Tonys to sell themselves out to the Fantasia ratings, but when it comes to LB/LM all of a sudden it's 'breaking the rules?'

Not a secret that I am not a Fantasia fan, and have yet to see her in TCP. If they want to put her in the Tonys- fine, if they want to let her sing- fine, if they want to let her sing something from TCP- fine, I just don't want to hear any more about how allowing Blonde or Musik (or even Pirate Queen or Les Miz or anything else who opened this season) to perform would have been 'breaking the rules' and 'taking away from' the shows actually nominated for Musical from performing. Acknowledge there's a double standard working here, a double standard the Tonys are ok with, and move on.

(This could all be moot, as there's been no 'official' word yet that Fantasia is even performing, and if she is that it is something from TCP, right?)

Luponatic is right--the clips for State Fair and Big certainly felt like full performances to me back then--not little pre recorded clips.
