While nothing is close to being official, early word indicates that the cast for John Doyle's revised BOUNCE at The Public this fall will include Michael Cerveris and Alexander Gemignani as brothers Wilson and Addison Mizner, Faith Prince as Mama, and Matt Cavenaugh as Hollis Bessemer.
Although no contracts have yet to be signed, if these rumors are any indication, Doyle is assembling a first-rate company for what is shaping up to be a stellar theatrical offering.

Isn't Alexander too young? Great for Michael. And new rumors are stating that Matt is Tony in WSS.
Faith seems like an interesting choice for Mama.

So no Bernadette? Sad.
Cerveris and Gemignani? Doing Sondheim again? Boring. Cerveris will be fine, but I just don't "get" Gemignani's appeal.

ljay889, I've heard that about Cavenaugh and WEST SIDE STORY too (as absurd as I find it to be.)
If it is indeed true, I would guess he'd still have room to drop out of BOUNCE, since the person I spoke to said none of the actors it looked like would be cast had signed contracts as of yet.

Are there any rumors for the role of Nellie?
I hope they improved the show enough for a transfer!

Posted: 7/13/08 at 10:29pmI'm finding the West Side Story rumor a little far fetched.

It's been rumored on here and ATC. So we'll see. And usually ATC has more insider info.

Posted: 7/13/08 at 10:34pmThat sounds like really really weird casting on behalf on the brothers. Cavenaugh, however, is awesome casting.

Add me to the list of those who don't get Gemignani's appeal.
We started with Nathan Lane and Victor Garber...and we go from that to Alexander Gemignani? What happened?

Posted: 7/14/08 at 12:44amIts still going to have the mediocre, embarrassing score and a book that, though hopefully new, will have to concede to the actual boring facts of the Mizner's story. It doesn't matter who is cast, the show will once again be a flop. Its sad. How I wish Steve would go out with a great show...

"Too bad Creel is doing Godspell. He was the best part of the original."
That was my exact thought when I saw this thread.

Posted: 7/14/08 at 7:31amDoes this mean Michael falls in love with Matt? I wonder what Jenny Powers will do....

Its still going to have the mediocre, embarrassing score...
The score was the one element that worked. The Boca Raton sequence, Talent, You, The New York Sequence rank with the best of Sondheim.
and a book that, though hopefully new, will have to concede to the actual boring facts of the Mizner's story.
Have you read the book The Legendary Mizner Brothers? It is full of fascinatring stories. Weidman just needs to weave more of them into the show. (He also needs to put the Yukon back in Canada! The Yukon is NOT in Alaska!!!)
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I'm very sorry Richard Kind seemingly got bumped from this.

Well Kind hasn't done it in five years, maybe it's too different a show.
I wasn't to fond of him in it anyway.

Holbee, you took the words right out of my mouth.
They can't have revised it THAT much. The score frequently sounds like left overs from INTO THE WOODS. Pass.

Posted: 7/15/08 at 5:05amThey're actaully going back to, I think, Wise Guys which was originally done at The New York Workshop back in the 90s. I've heard that Wise Guys was darker than Bounce and it had a lot of potential. Also, I think it was Prince who really changed the style, probably not for the better. Will this be another masterpiece? I would guess not, but at least it will get a new production in New York (with great possibilities)!

Posted: 7/15/08 at 11:34amI wonder if they will still call it BOUNCE, or go back to WISE GUYS.
