re: BREAKING NEWS: A CHORUS LINE RETURNS TO BROADWAY 2006

Fantastic news. I guess the rumors were true that it would be back in 2006. And I'm happy that Breglio, Avian, Wagner and Hamlisch will be on board and making all of the decisions -- it's one of the greatest shows ever and that team will make sure it gets the revival it deserves, rather than the sort of bastardized "re-thinking" that has ruined so many other classic shows in the last few years.

I'm really looking forward to seeing it again.

Brooke is a bit tall skinny person. She can dress in a white body suite and lye across the stage and play "The title role"

edit: Big tall beast was not nice.

BITE YOUR TONGUE.

Though I guess Kristine ("I could never really sing...") comes to mind.

And NO STARS please. The show ran 15 years without the "aid and benefit" of big stars (McKechnie and Reinking were hardly household names) and I'm sure Avian and company are smart enough not to fall into that trap for the revival. Besides, what 30-something dancer out there -- who's great enough to be able to handle the demands of "The Music and The Mirror" -- is a big enough name to sell tickets to midwestern tourists anyway? Why bother? The SHOW is the star here.

Okay, as long as we're not trotting out Melanie Griffith, Mme. Shields, Britany Spears, et al.....

WHOO-HOO!!!!! YAY! AAHHHHAAHHHHHHH! YIPPPEEEE!

Okay, I'm excited. We need someone tall and talented for Cassie, right?

Nicole Kidman?

In all seriousness, I'm thinking Cady Huffman?

Otherwise, I don't want to recognize any other names in that revival.

re: BREAKING NEWS: A CHORUS LINE RETURNS TO BROADWAY 2006

I'm totally anti-recreating original stagings for Broadway unless it's for some special event. It's my opinion that people should bring their own creative outlets to the shows they work on, as opposed to recreating someone else's.

But with that said, I couldn't be more excited that the original team is working on it, and it won't be screwed up by someone with a stupid vision.

re: BREAKING NEWS: A CHORUS LINE RETURNS TO BROADWAY 2006

When you say "star", do you mean celebs such as Brooke Shields and Joey McIntyre (okay, not really a celeb, but hopefully you know what I mean), or do you mean those who have big names on Broadway such as Idina Menzel, Sutton Foster, and Bernadette Peters? If you mean the latter, although I cannot see those people in A Chorus Line, I don't think there is anything wrong with casting those who have a big name as long as they can handle the role well.

Woo! This is exciting. I love this show and it'll be the first show I see when I arrive in NYC once it's opened. What recordings are there of A Chorus Line and which one should I buy?

Mimi, I think Lauren's about 25 years too old to play Cassie.

This is VERY exciting news :) Still almost two years away, but very exciting.

JOHN LITHGOW I just realized, your last name is Butz! Both "Norbert" AND "Butz" are in your name! You must have gotten picked on a lot as a child!

jczelyph, I'm pretty sure there's only the OBC, which is GREAT! It doesn't have a song or two (And...), but it has the dances and everything, plus a mindblowing version of "What I Did For Love". Looking around, I've noticed that it isn't the expensive either!

re: BREAKING NEWS: A CHORUS LINE RETURNS TO BROADWAY 2006

What wonderful news! This was the first show I was obsessed with many years ago (yes, I'm old). I asked for and recieved the OBC recording for Christmas so I could broaden the horizons of my Wicked-loving, dancer daughter. My vinyl copy (yes, I'm really, really old) had long since worn out. I never got to see it on Broadway since I live in flyover country, but maybe now I'll get my chance.

BTW, I've been lurking for quite a while, but finally got up my nerve to really post!

Bump, for Chorine! Do you care what anyone else thinks about this revival? Then you might want to read the thread that was already started. As for the coustume designer...does W.I. Long design better tights and leg warmers than anyone else?
PEACE.
