BROADWAY MONOPOLY

I just played Monopoly last night for the first time in ages. This was a Disney version of Monopoly, spaces on the board being Disney movies.

While playing, it hit me, a BROADWAY MONOPOLY would be out of this world!

I went onto eBay and am bidding on a "Make Your Own Monopoly" game, and will make it a Broadway version, spaces being Broadway shows.

If there were a Broadway Monopoly, how would you design it?
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Great idea

How about chance cards like:

1. You invested in DOTV - Go To Jail
2. You Liked "Moose Murders" - Pay each player $ 100
3. You Thought Hassellhoff's J/H was the greatest theatrical experience ever- You are bankrupt & out of the game

Properties could be the theaters & instead of Boardwalk & Park Place you have Times Square & Broadway

Actually Roxy, I think it would be

"You want good reviews for The Producer - Pay each player $100"

And that's not a knock on The Producers - in the film, they give a critic a bribe....

"You buy a bootleg of THE PRODUCERS. Pay $5,000 and go to jail and think about what you've done."

"You get to see WICKED, pay $100."

"You get to see DOTV, here's $1,000. Thanks for showing up!"

"You go to BroadwayWorld.com and ask 'What if Sondheim wrote WICKED', Go To Jail. Do Not Pass Go. Do Not Collect $200."

"URINETOWN closed. Advance to nearest Subway. Get the hell outta town. Find the city where it's touring. Hurry! Go! Move it! Take all the money in the bank and make it happen!"

re: BROADWAY MONOPOLY

There is a Monopoly style game just entitled "Broadway." It's from the 60's or 70's with shows like Tobacco Road, Hello Dolly, and South Pacific, to name a few. We found it at a cast house I was in last year, you play the role of producer, taking your shows on the road before gettinng to the big time of Broadway. It was the longest game of creation, so we made it into a drinking game...

" Good news, your show just one the Tony award for Best Musical. The bad news, you were in the restroom when they announced it. Go to the end of the TKTs line( like the jail in the original monopoly) and wait until you roll a 5.

How about "Puts up an auction for Broadway Bears. Pay $200."
I have my books and my poetry to protect me...

re: BROADWAY MONOPOLY

I am loving these ideas. Someone should write to the makers of Monopoly and really suggest this. I've seen so many kinds (Wizard of Oz, Muppet Babies, Yankees, Mets, Dogs, etc...) Why not a Broadway edition?

Another card suggestion:

You have teamed up with the Weisler's to produce a revival. Please pay $5000 to invest in a movie actor/actress.

You have won a free ticket to the Tony Awards. Please pass Go and colect $200

I have this game called "New York in a Box." It's Monopoly, but you buy stuff in New York City... unfortunately it's not just B'way, but it's close. Even at 18 years old, I still get upset if someone buys the Theatre District before I do. re: BROADWAY MONOPOLY

re: BROADWAY MONOPOLY

This is a great idea. Maybe the management at broadwayworld.com should give the Monopoly people are ringy dingy.

CJR, that is very funny. Coming out of Noises OFf, I think it was I practically bumped into him. George Hamilton must have been in rehearsals then. He kept his head down. He is gorgeous. I thought. Ann Reinking was standing by the limo holding the door open. Just another NY happening you get to see unexpectedly.

re: BROADWAY MONOPOLY

This looks like so much fun I decided to bid on one also since several are for sale at eBay. CJR, I'll PM you and tell you which one I'm bidding on so we don't compete! For anyone interested, it's called "Make Your OwnOPOLY." You can also find it in online stores. It seems to retail for around 25 to 30 dollars.
