WOW!
What an NYC Broadway Evening!
Young Kevin Clay kicked it off with a great SOMETHING"S COMING
Strich followed with her BROADWAY BABY and WHY DO I LOVE YOU? which were both trademark and "Why" especially moving.
Other Highlights:
Jane Krakowski proving a perfect Sally with DON'T TELL MAMA.
John Cullum's hysterical I RISE AGAIN
Sutton Foster and her boys doing a cute YOU'VE GOT POSSIBILITIES
(saw Linda Lavin who introduced it in SUPERMAN paying close attention in the audience).
Renee Elise Goldsberry belting every note of THE MILLER's SON
Michael Cerveris acting the crap out of TOO MANY MORNINGS
Rebecca Luker's sweet warm full BILL
Aniki Noni Rose emoting and interpreting CAN'T HELP LOVIN DAT MAN
Kelli O'Hara singing beautifully in the Balcony scene from WEST SIDE STORY (with a weak matt morrison, but he didn't sing much)
An Amusing redition of ALL I ASK OF YOU as the Four Seasons would have done it. The Crowd Loved Michael Longoria's Sweet Freakish Voice (he's a cummer)
Donna Mckechnie losing the lyric but returning with a Powerfull I'M STILL HERE
Manoel with a soulfull OLD RED HILLS OF HOME (he has to work on his pronounciation, I think a better song could have been found for his talents)
Michael Arden (probably the youngest artist up there) Proving He is the best new up and Coming Singer/Actor on the Picture delivering a Funny strong sung SHE LOVES ME.
Carolee Carmella and Brian D'Arcy James heating up a Hot Night with two Evita Songs: BUENOS AIRES and OH WHAT A CIRCUS
with great Chase Brock Choreography
Only Downers were Shuler Hemsley's IN PRAISE OF WOMEN
(Just a bad choice, i felt)
Bebe Neuwirth's CABARET (What key was she singing in?)
But the audience seemed to love her
and LEE Ann Womack's DON"T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA
(DON'T GET ME STARTED! What the hell was she even doing theree
But it was a Wonderful night and the skyline of NYC under a greyish cloud as the Orchestra played the Quintet to WEST SIDE STORY with Fireworks and LIZA's interplay and introduction to HAL PRINCE capped it all off
Congrats to All involved!
