Anyone know more in depth information about the BROADWAY THEATRE PROJECT? Is it worth it, if accepted... has anyone who has attended as an apprentice (not a faculty member) gone onto Broadway?
I have had several friends attend BTP and have loved it. They grew a whole lot in just the short time they spent there.

I also know someone who went there. She liked it, but, interestingly enough didn't love it. I don't think she's as into theatre as she thought she was. I would LOVE to go one summer though. I am thinking of sending in a tape because I can't go to any of the live ones. You should try out, then if you don't want to go you can turn it down. My friend got in on a cancelation because she was put on the wait list.
hey i am auditionging for this summer

One of my friends went and absolutely LOVED it. She said that it was one of the best experiences she's ever had. I would kill to go, but I don't think I'm auditioning this year. Maybe next year.
I went last year, and without a doubt, it was one of the best experiences of my life. You learn so much and absorb everything like a sponge for three weeks, as well as meet a lot of wonderful people. It also is one of those experiences where you learn a lot not just about yourself as a performer but about yourself as a person. BTP will probably clue you in to whether or not you want to be involved in the performing arts as a career. It is a wonderful experience though...I cannot say that enough.

You also asked whether or not anyone who has attended has gone onto Broadway, and there are many past BTP apprentices who are now working professionals. I believe that actually Patrick Wilson is a BTP alum, as well as many dancers from the companies of Fosse.

I don't know if you have checked out the website, yet, or not, but you really should. Its www.broadwaytheatreproject.com.

If you have any other questions, or just want to talk to someone who went, feel free to PM me. :)

I went last year (BTP: 2004) and let me tell you it was the most incredible and motivating experience of my life...it is VERY difficult to get it, but that is not that hardest part. By the end of the project you are SO tired, but so pumped for the final show, which is a review-type deal....it really is "broadway bootcamp" and if you arent willing to work, ann (reinking) will YELL!...and trust me, i wouldn't know personally, but you do NOT want her to flash you those intense eyes of hers!

as to your question of do people go on to broadway: YES! This is just off the top of my head by there havin been BTP alums in aida, music man, lion king, beauty and the beast, fosse, movin out....and a bunch more...but alot of btp students go on to do tours...the current tour of fosse reads like a btp alum list...a friend of my (garrett hawe) is currently in the ensemble of the nat'l tour of oklahoma....another close friend of mine (jenny tucker) was in both the nat'l tours of cats and fosse for awhile...so YES apprentices go on to bway, and tours

if you have ANY questions, feel free to PM me...it is an INCREDIBLE experience

BTP is a fairly well-respected summer program but I wouldn't make a decision based on whether or not anyone who's attended has ended up on Broadway. It's a three week program, it isn't going to make or break anyone's Broadway chances. There are several great pre-college programs available for theatre kids around the country. You should have a look at all of them and decide which is the best fit for what you want.
