Sean Hayes still hasn't proved that he can act or sing, no matter how many of you reference DAMN YANKEES.

And word on the "street" was that he wasn't interested in doing the "Broadway thing" after his last attempt.
Screw Sean Hayes, I'm just excited about Anne Hathaway and PROMISES, PROMISES!
This is the second time Hayes and Hathaway have been involved with Ashford's PROMISES, PROMISES.
They both starred in a workshop he did of it in March as well.
But would it include the Bennett staging?
Lets put your Resume' and Emmy awards, up against Sean Haye's,
then see who can act or sing.......

For the record, I can attest that there was a reading at PH of PROMISES over the weekend...it's not even like they were trying to hide it: they had signs all over the place.
and gogogreg, learn how to spell the guy's name before you judge the talent competition that Sean and I just set up.
Thats some odd casting right there. And I can't imagine of all things Ann Hathaway would pick as her Broadway debut a revival of PROMISES but I bet the reading was fun.
spell who's name?....

Sean's.

Hmmmmm. Wouldn't the male lead in PROMISES PROMISES have to convincingly portray a heterosexual? As talented as he is, I'm not sure I see Mr. Hayes making that work.

I don't care if Sean Hayes is in it or not, I NEED Anne Hathway to do this as soon as possible. When I read this I did one of those gasp/heart-stopping clutch moves, so I can't even imagine what would happen if this is officially announced in the future.
If this actually happens, I'd be very excited about it. This show definitely needs a revival, and they seem like great choices for the roles to me. If anything, they would both draw a crowd, and Broadway needs that.

What great news! I'd love to see a revival of Promises, Promises on Broadway. The Bacharach / David score is outstanding. I'd love to hear 'Knowing When to Leave','Half as Big as Life', 'I'll Never Fall in Love Again' and 'Promises, Promises' with a great big, brass - heavy orchestra. "Turkey Lurkey Time" should be a hoot! Swing those arms, ladies!
The show needs to be revived, and I would love it if Hayes and Hathaway went on to star in it. Would love it even more if they kept the original Bennett staging, especially for "Turkey Lurkey Time."

I didn't see Sean in Damn Yankees, and know nothing of his actual sexuality, but in interviews of him I've seen he comes off as pretty darn straight.
Wonderful news, in spite of Mr. Hayes. It's sad that this show has never been revived on Broadway.

Sean Hayes CAN act and he CAN sing. Look at his resume and bio. Look at his awards. I am a dedicated Sean Hayes loyalist and I support him in all his work. In film, The Bucket List and the upcoming Soul Men with the late Bernie Mac and Issac Hayes. His role in Martin and Lewis got him nominated too.
I think that there are some jealous people who just cannot stand the fact that Sean IS that good, no he is great.
He can do film work, television work, act in this project on Broadway AND run his production company too all at the same time.
I am so proud of him and he is such an amazing human being on this planet. You go Sean! Break a leg for your true supporters who have the vision to see greatness on stage and screen!
Anne Hathaway is great in the clip I've seen! I was really surprised by the talent behind that beautiful woman!
I was skeptical of her voice after hearing a wee clip here and there in movies etc, and the mention of people wanting her to tackle the film Elphaba of Wicked...but yeah, as I said...very surprised by the talent there!
p.s Sean Hayes wouldn't be the first camp actor to play it straight on stage, nor will he be the last. In fact, he's pretty macho compared to some of the queens floating about the place.

Hmm.
I thought Sean Hayes was terrific in "Damn Yankees."
I'm not sure he's the right casting for that role.
On the other hand, I think Anne Hathaway would make a PERFECT Fran.
But the thing about "Promises, Promises," is it's a directors show. It needs a terrific director, and a terrific choreographer, which are both more important than the casting of either of the leads.
IMO.

toanthingtaboo where did you see a clip??
I guess this means Anne Hathaway won't be doing the revival of Guys and Dolls. But YAY for Promises, Promises!
