Well that was a video full of no answers.
Essentially I feel the same way about IN THE HEIGHTS as Kenny Ortega does. I saw myself, my family and my friends in that show. There was a total connect and it goes without saying it's because it was written by someone who lived it as opposed to a couple of gringos sitting around creating a show about Latinos without a clue as to how we think, feel, speak and live.
That was a nice speech, and I share the same feelings about the show as he does. He's really passionate about the show and I think that will translate well for the movie. It reminds me of how passionate Shankman was for Hairspray.
I thought the part about Spike Lee wanting to direct the movie was interesting. I wonder how that would of came out.
I just saw the the show last night here in Denver. It is much better than I expected. I did not expect it to be as heartwarming as it was. I could see this as a movie musical and would love to see what Spike Lee would have done with it. I hope they don't ruin it.
