Awful. What's with the "dog's point of view" costumes/sets? They just look stupid and ridiculous. York sounds great as usual though.

It's based on the original book, not on the Disney movies that changed things. The author Dodie Smith conceived the people as odd-looking giant "pets" and the dogs as much more "human" in behavior and scale.

I saw it in Atlanta....In a word...."terrfic" Granted not all the video makes it looks as it really is....the show is wonderful as is the score, orchestrations,and the performances...Great job for direction by Jerry Zaks and choreography by Warren Carlyle

Umm not really. I grew up with the book and recently read it to a niece-- But if thinking that makes you justify how ugly the set is in your mind, more power to ya.

Still I admit this is nowhere the disaster I expected--I was thinking something like that tour of Casper the friendly ghost the Musical Chita Rivera did.

So glad to hear you enjoyed it. I'm really looking forward to seeing it when it comes through. I don't understand the hate for the video. I think it looks great! For a family show it looks very entertaining. Sets and costumes seem quite inventive, and the music is really catchy and fun. I laughed in several places at the lyrics. Plus Rachel sounds awesome! and the kids seem very talented. Most definitely not a "hot mess."

It is a wonderful show.....cleverly designed as well.

It was kinda similar to this Dalmatians--a Summer Stock style tour for families, no aspirations to Broadway, one big Broadway name (in this case very big). Chita needed the paycheck I guess (I haven't decided if it honeslty is all that more embarassing than her role in Merlin)

I agree Rachel deserves 1000x better than this nonsense. Did you see her climbing the stairs on those stilts, so carefully. She sounds amazing.

I second that someone is going to fall and break their neck. What a crummy dangerous gimmick for actors to have to go through.

this is ridiculous to put actors on stilts and to have humans dressed up in dalmatian clothes pretending to be dogs AND to have real dalmatians on stage all at the same time. The segment with all the kids jumping around looked like some school play.
