Hi all - quick question. I'm coming into the city over Labor Day weekend and will likely have a duffle bag with me, and will go directly to a show off of the bus. I intend to check the bag, but will any theatre deny me access with a fairly large bag? I have no issues with them going through and inspecting it; I just don't want to be turned away at the door.
It's usually ok....but most theaters don't have a coat check in the summer. You might need to have the house manager lock it up.

Thanks! Is there anywhere easy and fairly inexpensive I could store it in the Times Square area if I have time? I'd rather not lug it around anyway if I can avoid it.

Hi Isaac.evans. As dramamama601 said, it's usually okay. I would recommend that you call the theatre directly, and inquire, as each theatre has different rules, and each is open is various interpretations. For example, at the Gershwin, their policy is as follows:
Bag Checks:
All bags will be inspected upon arrival. Luggage, shopping bags and other large packages that will not fit comfortably with you at your seat will not be checked or allowed inside the theatre. For your convenience, please make other arrangements for these items before arriving.
I don't blame you for not wanting to cart your bag around the city. I believe I saw a similar thread recently, and storage places were suggested.
Enjoy your visit!

Isaac, if you're worried about the theater not holding your bag, Schwartz Luggage Storage on 37th between 8th and 9th is your solution.

… If you are checking into a hotel, they will hold your bag for free.
Exactly. Though I now live in NYC, whenever I came to visit the city I would checkout at the hotel at noon and the hotel would store my luggage so I could spend the day in the city until I needed to catch my evening flight hours later. ALL hotels will hold your luggage after you checkout.
