For those of us with tight finances, are the $30 seats in the balcony for Encores productions worth doing? I hate being far away from the stage, but love ZORBA and hate to have to miss it.
Thanks in advance for your reports!

I think it's better to see it from the balcony than missing the show.

That's where I usually sit, in the $30 balcony seats. I have never sat in the first row, so I don't know how high the bar is. But the view is fine from up there, and the sound is too. Once in a while there will be projections that you can't see, but that depends on the production.

I've sat in the balcony for at least three different shows and have always still had a full stage view and no problems with understanding/hearing the actors. Always better to see the show than wish you had!

Does anyone know how the front row of the balcony is? Is the bar in the way?

The bar wasn't an issue for me when I sat in the front row, but all of the lights and technical equipment mounted to the balcony were. My subscription seats have been in the second row of the balcony for the past few years, and I think they're MUCH better than the first row.

The remodel really improved the situation in the balcony. It's great.
I have sat in the front row, but I'm 6'4" so I'm a bad judge of whether or not the bar would be a problem for most people.
One other thing to consider is that it takes several minutes to get up to the balcony before the show and it takes FOREVER to get out once its over. So plan accordingly.

We sit there all the time. Since they redid the seating it's so much better than it was.

I've only been once but I say absolutely. Try to get a seat closer to the center as the side seats are kind of out there. Bring binoculars/opera glasses if it's really important to you to see the actor's expressions. Otherwise, you have a very clear view of the stage and the seats are great up there... unlike some theaters I could mention.

My friend and I sat in one of the back rows of the balcony, and they weren't terrible seats at all. We wish we had spent more on closer seats, but if they're all you can afford, they're definitely worth it. It wasn't a bad view, but being closer is always nice.

Saw the Lupone GYPSY from up there, and absolutely saw and heard everything.
