I am stunned by this news and I am not easily stunned. Wow. What hope is there for theatrical mortals? I know our editor in chief has a fondness for Ms. Rivera. Surely Mr. Diamond can help finance this production. We will all buy more stuff with the bww logo...........This show is just to irresistable to not survive. I have loved every "nightclub" show Chita has done since CHITA PLUS TWO thirtyish years ago. Let's get this show up and going folks!!!!

Chita's show is supposed to start its run in Denver - and it's still listed on their site as a 'go'. I think the financing troubles have only to do with LA, on the Ahmanson's end.

The only surprise is that anyone thought Martin Bell could raise three million dollars.
So this show will come to Broadway right?

That's the plan, but at the moment, they're just saying that the Denver engagement is still on.
So will we subscribers get to see a replacement replacement show, or will we receive a refund/credit, or will they just pocket the money?
This subsriber just cancelled his subscription.
What a shame! I had so looked forward to seeing one of our true musical theater treasures on stage once again. It almost made up for the disappointment of "The Visit" never making it to Broadway. I find instances like this so frustrating. I don't know the details concerning the Ahmanson but I can't help wondering why Marty Bell would announce this engagement without already having the funds secured and in place? Hopefully the show will go on elsewhere and finally make it to NY.
I hope they get the stuff together. Financing troubles are worrying, of course. Sometimes they seem to have a trickledown effect. The only trickling we need is the magical trickling of Ms. Rivera on a stage.
Grrr. I'm going to be in the LA area around the time Chita was supposed to be there! I was going to get tix for me and my Mom. Damnit!
They just interviewed Ritchie on Public radio. They might have a replacement show tha has become available at the last minute. He said a announcement will come when things are solidified. Are things ever solidified at the Ahmanson?

Right now, they're just giving subscribers credit toward another show or they're getting a refund. I hope they come up with a replacement show soon!
I was definitely looking forward to Chita...

We were really looking forward to Anything Goes - as I had read a lot about the London production, and there was no way for us to see it. THEN, we acquiesced and were looking forward to Chita - although, not for very long, as it was cancelled almost as soon as it was announced. At the moment, we're wondering what on earth they could possibly pull in on such short notice that we could once again TRY to look forward to.
