According to the UK's Daily Mail (of Friday, April 13), the cast of the Mamma Mia! film has been set. Remember, it's all speculation until a real announcement comes out.
Along with the previously confirmed Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, and Amanda Sayfried, the film will star Christine Baranski as Tonya, Colin Firth as Harry, Dominic Cooper as Sky, Julie Walters as Rosie. Stellan Skarsgard is in final talks to play Bill (originally tapped for the role was Bill Nighy).
The film will cut "Thank You For The Music," "Under Attack," and "Knowing Me, Knowing You." ABBA's "When All Is Said And Done" is to be added in.
The cast goes into the studio at the end of the month, will filming to begin in June.

I love "Under Attack"!
That saddens me. I guess a half naked Dominic Cooper will have to cheer me up.
OMG!!! COLIN FIRTH!!!!!!!!
Amazing. Am very excited about this film now...
Great cast. Thankful they cut those songs.
I want to know who'll play Pepper! But if Colin Firth is involved, I'll be there in a heartbeat.

Bitter about the cut songs, but I'm totally flipping over Baranski for Tanya. Discussing the film last night with a few friends, several thought she'd be a perfect fit for the role.
Time to make phone calls!
Yeah, I'm pretty much there for Colin Firth.
I'm guessing this is why Baranski had to cancel for the Kennedy Center Sweeney concert. Still disappointed about that.
Oh I love Baranski! And Collin Firth... ::drool::
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu
shame about Under Attack, it was my favorite song.
but that's AWESOME about Dominic... YES!

A number of sources have said Firth and Walters will not be involved and that's misinformation
Baranski=PERFECT! the best casting so far in this movie! I am sad to hear that they are cutting Knowing Me, Knowing You and Under Attack.
If it isn't going to be Cher, I will be fine with Baranski! But the guy playing sky isn't a looker at all... So sad... I suppose after Joe Machota, you can't go anywhere but down...
You're kidding, right?
Dominic Cooper is SO much better looking than Joe Machota (who is good looking).

You can't be serious. Foanatic is right, Dominic all the way.

Happy about the cast, but really disappointed about Under Attack, that is my favorite song in the whole debacle!

Dominic Cooper!!!! AMAZING.
I'm disappointed about "Under Attack"....The other two songs, not so much. They tended to slow the action down. But I'm thrilled about "When All Is Said and Done" - that is a gorgeous song!
And I'm happy about Baranski, she is the perfect type for Tanya, but...am I the only one who thinks she can't handle "Does Your Mother Know"? Especially not like other Tanyas I've seen on stage, like Karen Mason or Judy McLane for example.
Oh and if Walters and Firth turn out to be true....that is SO awesome.

I can't believe they're cutting Under Attack! Oh, well at least we have Dominic Cooper- YUM!
Has anyone attempted to confirm the new cast names? The Daily Mail's site does not have this portion of Baz's column online. Even if it does exist, Baz is not always right. His online column from April 13th is about someone else, although all may not have been included on the website.
The source appears to be the ABBAmail website which has a typed-up version of the column, complete with typos.
Curious if anyone has seen the actual news article in the paper or attempted to get those names confirmed.
I would love to see Baranski in this role. I think she will be great.
You would think that since there is a trio of woman, that the producers would book three A-list celebrities to carry the film.
I've never heard of Julie Walters. Baranski I love- but she is still not marketable.
I dunno. I see these as rumours. Unless they producers are tyring to appeal to both US and UK audiences. which is what im assuming.
I've been pushing for Baranski to play Tanya since I saw the original London cast. I really wish they wouldn't cut Under Attack. Great song and a fun scene. But I am excited about the addition of When All Is Said And Done. Love that song. The other cuts make perfect sense.
Julie Walters is a staple of British film/television and stage. She's probably most famous in the US for the film "Educating Rita," done a long time ago with Michael Caine. For the younger set, she's also Mrs Weasley in the Harry Potter films, but they wouldn't probably know her name from Adam.

hm, yeh I still don't know who she is.
regardless- im excited to see how this movie comes together. I am not a fan of the musical on stage.
But may be the film will do a complete 180.
Baranski sounds so...blah. I was hoping for big stars to complete the trio, Julie Walters will definitely appeal to the British audience and her casting seems appropriate. Firth sounds like a great idea as well.
