Well, having never hear "Broken Condom" or even read the lyrics it would be hard to tell what the mood is and if it would be appropriate for him to treat her question in a joking manor.

Check your legal rights on the work itself. the retainer for BARE does not allow any artistic modifications to the script or characters, Also the fat thing is a huge plot line that is brought up several times in the show and is the bases for the tension between Nad and Ive and Jason, you really need to look at the subtext to see how the characters all feed off each other, just becareful because if you change anything to the show you might get nailed. Whats the copyright date on the material that you have?

Dont worry,
We are in good contact with the writers and their lawyers...I would discuss changes with them for sure.

Link- comming from the "fat girls" poit of view, I think having Nadia on the thin side would be as bad as Jason not really bieng gay, or Ivy just thinking shes pregnant. I saw a picture of the LA cast before and I remember thinking that the Nadia was quite thin, I was very dissapointed by that, even the music seemed different comming from her in my head.
Bottem line for me on this issue is that Bare is about more than Peter and Jason to alot of people, and as much as Peter's journey speakes to people who have gone through the same things Nadia's story speaks to me. I think that having a girl that isn't fat at all. She is not even pudgy. playing Nadia would of sent a totally different message to me and instead of empathizing with the character I would of resented her. It would take her real problem and make it a fake one, body image isuues and bieng overweight are not the same problem nor are they interchangable.
PLEASE DONT CHANGE THAT!!!!!!!!
besides the mom says "after all you've such a pretty face" moms dont say that to girls with "body image issues" they say that to fat girls!

Wow I thought I wouldn't have a problem with Nadia not being a bit overweight, (Because lets face it Natalie Joy Johnson was not fat) but when I saw the headshot of the girl from LA I got pissed. she was soo skinny, not fat, not even pudgy.

No Natalie was not "fat" either, but she is big enough to portray a girl who in highschool would be the "fat girl", lets face it plus size modeling starts at a size 10, so thats why I feel like casting a girl that you would describe as not even pudgy would be a horrible addition to the stereotyping, although i did just read that a fat suit is bieng considered, please dont do that, i think that would be worse!
footlooser- that is exactly how i felt when i first saw her, i thought well NJJ wasnt fat so who cares, but that girl playing her just doesnt make sence to me!
linklarkin Im sooo curious to know what you do about this link, i am willing to start a "no skinny nadia's" petition!
hehehehe

mesmerized,
I do see what you are saying...Hah...I have year till the production goes up and my actress is quite willing to gain weight for the role, plus we can dress her so she looks larger than she is. Either way I want my Nadia to be very punky in a sea of preps...I have always seen her as such.
My problem is this actress is amazing, in both acting and singing, and based on past roles I have seen her in could pull of this part so well. I'll have to see at auditions though whether there are any actresses that are just as talented as her, and also look the part though. We shall see.

Avika, keep me posted. I would LOVE to see it if it gets mounted.
