Barnum is currently set to revive Spring/Summer 2010 at the Prince Edward Theatre. Sets are being design for this theatre.
The hunt for the lead is still underway but Cameron is persuing Hugh Jackman, John Barrowman and Michael Ball.
Fate of Jersey Boys is unknown. I (personal) would say the show will probably close but obviously a transfer could be possible to another Delfont Theatre...probably a smaller one where the tuner should have opened in to begin with.
LOL HotJohn. That's true! I'd see it with any of the above, particularly Jackman! Wasn't there something about Barrowman not wanting to work with Cameron after the 'Nancy' show though?
Maybe I'm on nobody's side

This cannot be true. That line-up idea has more than a whiff of the WOS board about it... two people previously rumoured to be involved (for the same role I seem to remember), and a movie star thrown in to get people's attention.
Think what you like about the Xanadu plans i heard (all true but, of course, just speculation of what plans they'd like for the show) but Barnum taking the Edward is almost a cert. Cameron want's it in there the only thing in his way is Jersey Boys suddenly doing amazing buisness and getting a long advance in. Unlikley really.
'Jersey Boys' has a very healthy box office one year after opening and shows no real signs of a downturn. Maybe Cameron will transfer it but I doubt it.
As much as I loved 'Barnum' at the Palladium all those years ago if its going to work these days it will be a total rework. Todays audiences just wouldn't except such an empty vessel. As for 'Jersey Boys' not being a proper musical, it is the one show in town that is sadly classified as 'jukebox' when it isn't, it tells a true story with the songs that are relevant to that story. I would never classify 'Barnum' as a proper musical - it was just an entertainment.
Not when Michael Crawford was doing it! The audience loved him- perhaps too much.
And to see him slide on a runway from the circle down to the Palladium stage was an unforgettable moment. The show is a totur de force for someone with megastar wattage.
Having never seen the show live, I cannot really comment. However, at home our LP of '82 Aussie production is one of my favs. I'd love the chance to see the show live and experience first hand all the amazing stunts and tricks I've only heard/read about for years
Well sadly that's the only recording of show I had as a kid, also probably the second musical album I remember hearing, so it (along with our LP of Mary Martin in South Pacific) has a very special place in my heart. I'll try and track down another version to hear how it should be done - which one would you suggest? Crawford or Dale?
Its £20 at Dress Circle and its a region 1 DVD - unplayable on our DVD player. Maybe I'll just have find an alternative way of acquiring it *wink wink*
I have not seen Barnum, love to see a classical musical, so look forward to this.
I have seen Jersey Boys through the metro offer, I know I am a bit of a downer on it, but my expectations were raised with how well it done in New York, pretty much the same thing happened with all the hype with Oliver. I liked the Jersey Boy story but was not keen on the music except a couple of songs.
