I've never heard of this play/musical. What's it about?
OH! Beauty AND the Beast? Well...you could go for Gaston, I suppose.

Gaston, Lumiere, Cogsworth, and even Beast.
The latter three are generally older characters, but there's no reason why someone in their 20's can't do it.
If you're short (or even if you're not) and want a comic relief part, you could go for Lefou.

I'm in rehearsals right now with the South Carolina regional premiere of this show. Auditions were fairly general, but the call backs were specific. I was called back for Lumiere and read twice for him. I didn't get Lumiere (because I'm 6'5"!), but I'm greatful that I made it into the ensemble. There are PLENTY of solo's for ensemble characters, though. The music is tons of fun but complicated at times with such a large cast! I was excited last night because they have hung the banners that Disney sent out on the street posts.
Good luck...and remember to have fun! It's DISNEY!

Posted: 6/24/05 at 3:39pmThey're probably looking for a Baritone "sound" then. Think of Gaston. Really deep and "manly". They have the general ranges on there, however, so look into that. And don't sweat it.

Bustin,
Cogsworth and Lumiere are both tenor range. I'm a tenor, too (just above)G. A cast as huge as B&TB is going to need support all over the scales!

Wax Lion says that he loves Disney Theatrical, except for when they told him that he was too small to play SIMBA in "THE LION KING". That made Wax Lion sad.
