I came across this earlier in the afternoon. The CW had a short behind the scenes look at Sweeney Todd with interviews with Depp, Carter, Rickman, Burton and others.

Here's hoping that HBO is doing a Behind The Scenes of Sweeney.

One of the posters says "Mrs Lovett - driven by LOVE."
You're really worried there's going to be NO passion in this? Plus it's been said the mother-son relationship with Toby in the movie will be stronger than ever before, especially since Toby is being played by only a 12 year old boy.

Posted: 11/24/07 at 10:29pmIt's one thing for the poster to say it. It's quite another thing to SHOW it. From what I've seen of the movie from the trailers, I only see blood.

Of course that's mostly what you're going to see. It's a trailer, they're trying to appeal to the horror fans. Then there are also trailers without blood, but with more singing.
It's not like they're going to have a trailer of Lovett taking care of Toby, or a trailer of Lovett expressing her love for Sweeney. They've got to promote Johnny and the blood.
It's all going to be there (the love and passion) - and that's coming from people who have seen the film already. There are some really touching moments from what I hear.

You've heard from people who saw the film?
Exactly how do you get to view the film early? Now you're making me anxious and curious to see how this plays out for myself. :)

My hopes are revived, but why do I get the suspicion that those who speak well of the Sweeney film work for Burton? I know that that's not the case, but I can't help but have that suspicion nevertheless.
I swear, I must be the most paranoid person on this board. . .

- You might be. lol. Sondheim has also spoken very well of the film.

Didn't Sondheim also speak well of NIGHT MUSIC?
#11re: Behind The Scenes of Sweeney Todd Movie
Posted: 11/24/07 at 10:56pmYes, I think it will be very bloody, however I think its going to be very well done as well! I haven't seen it yet, but from what I hear and have seen/heard so far I think it will be as good as anyone could have hoped for.

I've yet to see any proof of Sondheim speaking well of the NIGHT MUSIC. He was probably just being supportive when the film was released.
But there's no doubt that SWEENEY will be leagues and leagues better than the NIGHT MUSIC film (which wasn't even ALL that bad.)

"My hopes are revived, but why do I get the suspicion that those who speak well of the Sweeney film work for Burton?"
Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News doesn't work for Burton and he gave it a good review.
There was a poll on this one movie website asking what is the december wide release you are looking most forward too? Sweeney came in fourth. The top four were I Am Legend, Aliens Vs. Predator Requiem, National Treasure 2, and Sweeney Todd.

re: Sondheim and the Night Music film, from Craig Zadan's Sondheim and Company:
Sondheim: "I never wanted the movie made because I didn't think it would translate well onto the screen. And I tried to persuade Hal and Hugh but they wanted to make it anyway, so I wrote the new songs."
All I know is that I'm damn excited to see this movie.

Just saw the trailer today @ it looks like dynamite. This one we shall see in the theater & get the DVD as well.
To me the only one who could ever do it justice was Burton & Depp so it should be sensational.
