Posted: 7/24/05 at 11:53pmI thought he was excellent in the role- He brought in some of that famous song and dance-man sparkle which was very refreshing. Plus, he's a Broadway legend...It was a pleasure to see him in something new. I've also worked with him and found that he is quite gracious.

Posted: 7/24/05 at 11:59pmi think they should have gotten him to originate the role. i enjoyed the role a lot more with him in it. i think the best part was during his line "you have to give the people what they want" and he did a little tap dance to the side... and the changed ending to "wonderful"... watching him dance with shoshana in his style was a real treat. you can tell he's having a great time up there... go see him if you can!

Posted: 7/25/05 at 12:40amHe was excellent. Wish he was in the show more.. He should definitely have originated the role. Also, Megan Hilty is great! Haven't seen Shoshanna, but Saycon did a great job when I saw her..

He's incredible. By far my favorite Wizard.
I had the chance to watch him rehearse before a performance. It was truly a wonderful experience. He is very talented and has a heart of gold.

I have to say that I liked George Hearn more than Ben Vereen!
Ben sung the role extremely well, but all those little dance steps here and there I found annoying! In "Wonderful" they were ok, but in "Sentimental man" scene I found them really annoying! It was like he had this "Look, I'm BEN VEREEN! I can dance!!" attitude all the way on top of his mind instead of concentrating on the character. Too much showmanship there for my taste.

Posted: 8/10/05 at 1:52pmI loved Mr. Vereen in Wicked. I had a chance to work with him at the Broadway Theatre Project two weeks ago and he was so gracious and welcoming. Given all his success, I was amazed how humble and down to earth he was. Definitely the kind of performer I aspire to be.
