Sayre was fine. Not great. I guess I have just seen the role done to death .. so I can't get excited about it.
Go OLGA!
Dolly.. it was in my high school production.
( So yes.. I am bias)
Her mother was also my Spanish teacher. Lovely family.
Oh my, Dame, that is so sweet, and quite unexpected.
I am beaming. A great "Dolly" can make you remember her fondly forever, no matter where.
True. Very true.

I've sadly never seen a good Dolly. I'm not a fan of Babs' film version. So I've never really grown to love the show...
You know who also was a great Dolly? Judy Kaye. She was doing the tour for with Carol. She actually got to go on once as Dolly when Carol missed for a scheduled Tony appearance.
I imagine Judy would be wonderful in the role.
I hope some day .. someone re-imagines this wonderful show ( in respectful regard to the original staging) and gives it a glorious revival and a new leading lady a chance to put her stamp on the role.
Though I am 99% percent sure Benanti will win it, don't count Andrea Martin out just yet.

BENANTIII
OMFG SHES SO GOOD I LOVE HER! SHE BETTER WIN!!!
Benanti has it in the bag.
it's ALL benanti's. Every critic wrote her just as passionate of a love letter as they did to Patti.
What's MUCH tighter is the Supporting Actor in a Musical race.
Fitzgerald, Gaines, and Burstein are all very tight.
