Has anyone here ever seen a show in Pittsburgh's Benedum Center? I was hoping to get some opinions on which seating options there are the best before the tickets come out!
If it matters, the show I am planning to see is the national tour of An American in Paris!
On a side note as well; does anyone know where the stage door is? Thanks in advance!
Be forewarned that the Benedum is HUGE, although if you're used to standard tour houses it'll be nothing new to you. It's a lovely space IMO, despite the barn status.
I've sat pretty much everywhere and there really isn't a baaaad seat in the house, just some that you will have to strain your eyes to see haha. The legroom can be tight though and if you're a taller person you may want to go for the front of a section.
The stage door is right around the block on Liberty Avenue.

The Benedum is wider than deep, but the Mezz is really high. Orchestra Center and Orchestra Center Left and Orchestra Center Right closer to the center aisle are the best. The far sides are not the greatest up close, but toward the rear are ok.
Directors Circle is the best, but usually go to subscribers. First tier Mezz is as high I would go, but depending on price it's up to you, they're just high in 2nd tier Mezz so you look down on the stage.
This also hinges on the setup for the show touring.
The stage door is around the corner from the main entrance on Liberty across from the Wood Street T Station and is clearly marked.
Hope this helps

I agree Director's Circle is the best. I sit up in the 2nd tier a lot for shows I'm not majorly invested in and I don't think it's that high.

Back in the fall of 2002, I was passing thru Pittsburgh and got to see the very first stop of The Producers tour at the Benedum Center. Others can tell you more about the seating but what I remember most, other than the show was great of course, is how beautiful the theater was. Make sure you give yourself a few minutes to take it all in.
When I go to the Benedum, I try to sit within the first 20 rows of the orchestra - doesn't matter how far left or right as long as you don't end up in the furthest two strips of seats. All sightlines are great. It's just a really big space but not as bad as some other usual touring houses.

So, I ended up getting tickets for Hanukkah actually!
I can't complain with free tickets, but can anyone tell me what to expect from Orchestra Row W? Are they decent?
I was in the rear orchestra when I was there. I did not like the view or the sound that night.
