"Bernadette Peters will be honored with the first New York City Parks Citizen Award at a special gala for the NYC Parks Mounted Auxiliary Unit, Inc, to be held at 6pm on Monday, Sept. 25 at the Boathouse in Central Park.
The award will be presented yearly to a New Yorker of note who "has raised awareness of the New York City Parks and the natural life of the City through [his or her] volunteer efforts." Peters is being honored for hosting the annual Broadway Barks! fundraisers and her commitment to raise awareness of the plight of abandoned animals."
