According to IMDB (which I know can be spoty), Bernadette Peters will be playing Aunt Josephine (the role played by Meryl Streep in the ill fated movie) in Netflix's reimagining of A Series Of Unfortunate Events!

As far as I can tell, that is just a rumor that has not been confirmed anywhere. But one can hope!
This would be the second time Meryl Streep and Bernadette Peters have shared a role (the first obviously being The Witch in Into the Woods).

I love Bernadette. She hasn't been in a Broadway show in awhile. Glad she's doing this, although I love seeing her in concert or Broadway much better.

perfect role for her. Aunt Josephine was one of my favorite characters in the series.
Not to mention Streep and Peters are anagrams of one another...
THAT is something Lemony Snicket would slip into one of the novels! (I should know, I read and loved all 13.)

Agree... glad she's been doing TV shows for a few years (smash, mozart in the jungle) but it's sort of a waste of her talents. WE NEED HER BACK ON BROADWAY ASAP!!!!
Also, I wouldn't call the Hollywood film "ill-fated." There was some really good stuff there; it just tried too hard and the deviations from the source material were unnecessary. I would have LOVED them to do a movie for each book, like Harry Potter. The series is so good that it deserved that.
For the record, "The Wide Window" is my favorite of the books as well.

I haven't read any of the novels, but I do know that the 2004 film adaptation did truncated versions of the first three books. This new Netflix show is set to have each book in the series adapted into two episodes.
