We were speaking hypothetically about when her contract is up.
The truth of the matter is, when she leaves, the show closes.

Posted: 4/5/04 at 11:00pmi think so too, which is why im so glad she'll be around just long enough for me to (finally) see the show. i think that bernadette is the reason people are going to see this production, and not really the show itself. to be honest, if it were anyone other than peters, i dont know if i'd be interested.

Posted: 4/5/04 at 11:03pmBette Midler...especially considering that she would probably approach the role in a different way than she did a decade ago. I was just watching her "Diva Las Vegas" concert from 1996, and she does some things from Gypsy, and even in that time frame (from when she did Gypsy to when she did the concert), she improved tremendously. I thought she played Rose better in the concert than she did in the movie; and I loved her in the movie.

It was announced at the Ars Nova on Monday that Rod from Avenue Q would be taking over for Ms. Peters.
Check out the photos from the evening to see Rod in his rousing rendition of 'Rose's Turn'! I'm happy for him, this is his big break.
