I know these tickets go on sale to the general public this Sunday. How likely is it that there will still be good seats available? The Lincoln Center subscription can't take up that much room, can it? I am dying to see this show and I'm trying to plan a trip to New York, but I don't want to miss this.
Also, a general question about the Mitzi Newhouse: is it one of those theaters that doesn't have a bad seat? Should I be able to see well from pretty much anywhere, or are there spots to look out for? Thank you all so much!

Actually, the subscriber base very often completely sells out shows at the Mitzi (and very quickly). This happened with the last show there -- Wendy Wassertsein's THIRD -- as well as with BELLE EPOQUE last year. In both cases, the entire run sold out within 48 hours of member tickets going on sale -- long before tickets went on sale to the general public.
There are always cancellations, though, so with a bit of persistence, you should be able to get in at some point during the run.
And yes, it's a small house so there are no bad seats.

Are you serious? Do you know if this happened with Dessa Rose? I figure those two projects are pretty comparable...
Thanks for the information; this might complicate my plans a little bit.

I got a great center seat for the first preview, and I can't wait!
Best of luck to you guys. I hope you can score a ticket. This promises to be a truly great show.

Posted: 1/21/06 at 6:53amIt very much didn't happen with Dessa Rose. I saw that show with a tkts ticket on a Friday night and it wasn't full. So it doesn't always happen, but more often than not it does. But the house is teeny and gorgeous.

Dessa Rose started out strong, but a combination of weak reviews/word of mouth and LaChanze's frequent absences due to illness sank it during the last months of its run. Belle Epoque had a similar problem---nobody knew what to make of it, and it was frequently on TKTS and papering services towards the end of its run. Most shows that play at the Newhouse do usually sell out, though, and I would be surprised if Bernarda Alba didn't.

Posted: 1/22/06 at 10:04amSorry for double posting, I just wanted to mention that I bought my ticket this morning for Bernarda Alba. I assume the theater is pretty sold out because I put in a set of 4 dates I would be able to go (I only need a single seat), and it showed only one date where a seat was available. Anyways, good luck to everyone that's going to get tickets! I can't wait to see the show.

Posted: 1/22/06 at 11:44amI called Telecharge this morning and looked for two tickets and the first date available was April 6th at 8 PM and there weren't two seats together so we have to sit at opposite ends of the theater. I think it would be safe to say it's pretty much sold out.

...I finally found a number to call. The entire run is sold out, and I didn't even get a chance to ask for tickets because the site kept having errors all morning.

According to a few posts over at ATC, the entire run soldout in about two hours this morning. Someone posted this:
"When I called the members hotline, I was told that there are no longer tickets available online or by phone but that tickets are available in advance at the box office for an added row of wooden seats in the orchestra (same price)."

Any chance they'd extend?
I';m sure they'd have cancellation tickets day of - right?

An extension is very possible if the reviews are decent.
And there are always cancellations and members returning tickets they can't use for whatever reason. If I were you, I would regularly (at least weekly) go the LCT's website and check for ticket availability on the dates you can go -- especially once performances begin. Single tickets and pairs have been known to pop up frequently throughout sold out runs there.

Posted: 1/22/06 at 6:34pmAh, well at least that means there's some hope for me.
#17re: Bernarda Alba tickets?
Posted: 1/22/06 at 9:38pmI'm guessing there's no hope for a cast recording of this is there?

Why do you say no hope?
IT has a popular cast, I think.
And LC records its shows. And what with Sh-k boom...and if SWIWS sells well...
And it IS LaChiusa.
#19re: Bernarda Alba tickets?
Posted: 1/22/06 at 9:43pmI didn't know if shows like this usually got recorded or not. Good to know it will at least be recorded so that there is hope.

Well, Dessa Rose (which was the last musical there, right?), got a recording...
We'll see. I hope it does.

Posted: 1/23/06 at 1:07amUmm yeah don't jump to conclusions. The play hasn't even opened yet. It's not gonna be recorded as of yet. Of course I'm hoping against hope it will be.
#22re: Bernarda Alba tickets?
Posted: 1/23/06 at 1:46amWell while LCT didn't record Chronicle of a Death Foretold when LaChiusa had it there, it did for Marie Christine. 1 in 2 chance? Mayhaps depends on popularity, plus both of them have had a lot more press recently, what with SWIWS for him, and LITP for them...but we'll see.
