We are bringing a group of HS Theatre Kids to NYC in mid-March. Whats shows, in your opinion, will be open and/or the best to see.
I'm thinking or hoping:
Adams Family (previews)
Spider Man
CMIYC
Billy Elliot (we are seeing for sure)
Thanks for your opinions -
CATCH ME hasn't even announced if it's definitely making the move this season.
And no one has seen either ADDAMS FAMILY or SPIDER-MAN. So...yeah

Maybe see a revival? Or a play? Or something Off-Broadway? I'd branch out a little bit from big budget musicals, which is all you have listed at this point.
I go around the same time with my HS students! I haven't even begun to think about it...mostly because I let them choose their own shows with minimal guidance.

Dramamama:
This will be our first trip there - where do you stay - where do you have them eat - do you tkts?
bwaybri -- I tried to respond to your PM...but your account doesn't accept them. But to your above answers:
We usually stay in Jersey...our busses stay with us all weekend. (We only come in from Boston.)
Breakfast is always at the hotel and included. Lunch is on their own at any number of places. Great food court at Grand Central, sometimes we go to the South Street seaport's food court. Sometimes we just give them free time in times square area. We are there Friday Sat and Sun...Fri and Sun we are on the road...so it's a McDonalds stop. Sat we have dinner together. There are a number of places that take big groups...but you will have more choices with a smaller group.
We never TKTS.....too many kids and too big of a risk. We pre determine out shows in october. We all go together to all shows. This is what we did last year:
Friday night: West Side Story
Saturday: August Osage County
Saturday NnIGHt: Improv troupe
Sunday Matinee: Altar Boyz
Other things we did: Broadway workshops; Madame Tussaud's, chinatown, times square, ice skating at Rockerfeller Center,
If you want more open your acct to accept pm's.

Just out of curiosity dramamama, who pays for the trip?
In terms of food, it might be easiest to go to one of the touristy places in Times Square if you are eating before a show. For example - Planet Hollywood or Hard Rock Cafe. I know people on here try to stray away from these chain places, but when you are bringing a group of students, it might be easier to accommodate larger groups at these places.
The students pay for the trip...well their parents do for the most part. We go every year and take anywhere from 75 to 125 students, parents, chaperones each year.
1/2 is due as a deposit in October-ish, final payment due early January.
Bubba Gump's takes large groups, and the food is actually pretty good.
