My vote goes to HAIRSPRAY!
Half the reason I want to play Link Larkin so badly is to wear that pimpin' white suit for the finale.
Akiva
Wicked
Beauty and the Beast
Lion King?
The Light in the Piazza
Absolutely gorgeous costumes.

put me down for Wicked & Hairspray too! by the way, What was it exactly that Idina told the hospital staff about her gown from Wicked?? That line was CLASSIC!!
I don't know the line but that dress was gorgeous! Did they ever repair it? I'm sure they had to. Well that dress single handedly won my vote for best costume.

Wicked has amazing costumes. I go the chance to see them up close when I went backstage, and they're so beautiful. They all have so many unique details. They're just outstanding.
Well, it seems to be almost resounding, and my vote goes to this group as well:
Wicked (ensemble especially)
LITP
Hairspray
Lion King
BATB
Have to agree with most of these. Piazza TRULY captures a period in time without being a characature of it. Wicked transports you to a different world and, if you haven't seen the special features on the PBS Broadway Series, there is a segment on the Wicked costumes. Just to see all the hand beading that went into those costumes makes you truly appreciate the artistry involved. The Lion King has interesting and very unique costumes, but I wouldn't necessarily put it on the list because the Timon and Pumbaa costumes look like Disney on Ice and (IMO) ruin the entire concept of the design for the show. BATB has some pretty amazing stuff going on. I also love the costumes for The Producers, particularly the showgirl costumes in "Springtime For Hitler." Plus the Ulla gown from "That Face" is pretty cool -- how it becomes a floor-length gown in the middle of the dance. That's brilliant.
Wicked goes without saying. Piazza's are lovely, and Phantom's are pretty good as well.
I love Sara Ramirez's costumes in Spamalot, though. Especially the wedding gown.
I would have to say Piazza.
BreakingTheCircle07 said it eloquently and I agree wholeheartedly.

I like WICKED's costumes too.
Also, I think CHICAGO has great costumes as well. The costumes go so well together with the show's dark, seductive and sexy "nature" (sorry, couldn't think of a better word).
WICKED--and while esp. the ensemble..think of Glinda's BEAUTIFUL costumes! and Elphaba's Act 2 "dress" or honestly work-of-art...
and all their shoes!! they are all made for the show and worth thousands of dollars..they are fantastic!!
