Best Guess for Funny Girl Preview Dates?

Probably too soon but does anyone want to venture a guess as to when Funny Girl will start previews? Going to be in NYC second week in March..if there's some chance that previews will be happening I will leave a night free and not get tickets for anything and wait to buy for that. Otherwise I normally get my tickets pretty well in advance. 

I've searched and can't seem to find any specific dates other than "opening in April."

Assuming that April 2nd is their opening night I'm trying to figure out when previews would start.

According to the casting call, April 2nd will be the first preview, which means it should open in May. You'll miss it in March, unless those dates change, which they could.

We are hoping the dates change. We will be there March 23 to 27. Fingers crossed.

I will be planning a trip for spring 2022, and I definitely plan on catching this one. I had two trips planned (one for November of this year and one for February of 2022). I decided to cancel my November trip for a myriad of reasons. I also am moving my February trip to April. I am going to kind of combine the two short weekend trips planned into one longer trip in the spring. My November trip was going to primarily consist of shows I have already seen, so I decided to wait until April when Funny Girl, and, hopefully, more new shows will be playing. It just didn't seem worth it for me to go to the city when the weather will be colder and COVID is still rampant to see things I had already seen. I lived in NYC for 5 years prior to COVID, but the pandemic has lead me to another life and career out of the state. I am definitely looking forward to returning in the spring and seeing Funny Girl and others!

I don't want to bum you out, but I truly don't think the preview date will change considering rehearsals start on Valentine's Day and that's not a lot of time with a new production.

As of now, previews will begin April 2, and I would imagine the show officially opens past the 2022 Tony cutoff date. Producers probably don’t want to compete against “The Music Man” for Best Revival of a Musical.

Really? I would think they would want to be eligible for the 2022 Tony awards.

I would be shocked if the producers didn't open this in time to be eligible for the 2022 Tony Awards.

I would bet they would never miss the deadline. I don’t think The Music Man is a necessary shoe-in for the best revival Tony and it seems like a greater risk to not compete at all and wait over a year for an award - by then the show may be closed and who knows what they’d be competing against.

Yeah, Jordan likes to spread rumors like Broadway wont open until 2025 and that Funny Girl won't open early enough for the TONY AWARDS. Haha. It's just hilarious at this point.
