I knew what I was ranking #1 since earlier this week. Still, nothing could’ve prepared me for that opener after getting my hands on the P&P demo.

CHICAGO and MORMON with great tributes. They’re probably the only ones that sold any tickets.

RAGTIME was good. Hits more live. 

ROCKY HORROR and TWO STRANGERS were middle of the pack. SCHMIGADOON, meh. 

LOJ with a beautiful In Memoriam, but guitar guy stole the show for me. :)

If I may quote Paulson from last year’s survey article:

“A wise producer once told me that a Tony Award for best revival is really a prize for most improvement — that voters tend to honor productions that make them think differently about a title, rather than productions that simply remind them that a great show is still great.”

JELLICLE BALL should have the advantage here. 

This obviously isn't something I want to write / talk about, but unfortunately all signs are pointing to a pretty sizable mass culling on Broadway after this year's ceremony (if you include all the limited-run plays).

If rumors are to be believed:

Paulson's survey is arriving first thing tomorrow morning. That will be, as always, the metaphorical Tony dagger (especially for the main categories).

Correction: Mark Sonnenblick will be assisting Pasek and Paul for this year’s opening number, not Shaiman. 

Answering my own question about streaming the event outside of CBS platforms, try this third-party site with multiple HD servers, set to go live on Tony Sunday at 8 PM EST.

Adam Feldman points this out every year around this time too... "Tony's" is a contraction or possessive (depending on its use) and "Tonys" is a plural noun and should be used when referring to the awards. 

Is there a way to watch the ceremony via an illegal service or international coverage? 

If not, I guess I'll just live vicariously through this year's Tony Awards megathread.

It’s happened for best play before, most recently with VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE in 2013. 


Can’t see that happening with LIBERATION, though. It takes one of either direction or costume design, as well as its top honor.
