Stephen Sondheim's PASSION is the shortest lived Best Musical winner. It won 4 MAJOR Tonys (and 6 Drama Desk Awards.) And closed after 280 performances.

Hallelujah, Baby! closed before the tony awards named it the best musical of the season in 1968.
