Stephanie Block in Falsettos.
Ben Platt was outstanding in DEH, and totally deserves that Tony, but I don't love the show.
The Other One said: "From what I have seen (not much this season, to be honest), Laurie Metcalf in A Doll's House, Part 2 by far.
The buzz around Ben Platt makes me want to see him in Dear Evan Hansen, though I doubt I will be able to afford or time it any time soon.
"$ave $10 a week ...you can do it if not make it $5!..you'll Save enough to see it by the fall!

I've seen a lot of musicals during the past season, but not many in New York, so here's a longer list:
Best Broadway performance (male): Ben Platt, Dear Evan Hansen, with Josh Groban, Great Comet, as a very honorable mention because Pierre is the heart of the show and he made it work
Best Broadway performance (female): Brittain Ashford, Great Comet, just for 'Sonya Alone' because I really, unexpectedly loved it, with Rachel Bay Jones in Dear Evan Hansen as a very honorable mention
Best tour performance (male): Joshua Henry in Hamilton. He plays Burr differently than Leslie Odom Jr. They have set a very high bars for any future Burrs I see.. Honorable mention to Darren Criss in Hedwig and the Angry Inch because, honestly, I had no idea he could pull it off given that he's too young for the part.
Best tour performance (female): Lena Hall as Yitzhak in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. She's just ridiculously talented. Honorable mention to Rachel York in Grey Gardens, who just has a blast in the second act
Best tour performance by a child: Alessandra Baldacchino as Small Alison in Fun Home. It's such a challenging role, and she was fantastic.
Best understudy: Caroline Murrah as Medium Alison in Fun Home. We ended up seeing her twice and she was wonderful both times.
Best regional performance: Benjamin Perez as Kevin, In the Heights, Pacific Conservatory Theatre in Santa Maria, California - a very nice job in a supporting role
Most awe-inspiring voice: Grace McLean, Great Comet, because how doesn't she shred her throat?

Who goes to the theater for a master class in acting? I just want characters telling a story. In fact, if a performance is good, you shouldn't even notice that it required skill,
