Best Rush?

I'm going to have some free time in the city soon. I would like to rush a few shows. What shows offer the best rush tickts?

By best I mean easiest to get a ticket and best seat location.

Thanks!

re: Best Rush?

RENT, 1st 2 rows, 34 seats available, $20, a very good chance, especially on Monday nights.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. 21 seats. Front row. Seems like they are performing just for you. $26.25. Pretty good chance. Around 30-40 people show up, not matter what night. Wicked is like 70+. Crazy. I've won Dirty Rotten Scoundrels twice. It's not that hard. And it's an excellant show!

No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

Umm Wicked is more like 400+ if you're lucky.

Lennon rush is easy to get and great seats. Glengarry is easy, seats are in rear mezz though. Virginia Woolf, not sure where the sets are. Got rush to The Producers less than an hour before showtime, seats weren't bad.

Forget the lotteries, like others are suggesting.

Sweet Charity has a great student rush. First Row Orch and other parts of the Orch for only 26 dollars. It's a great deal.

I tried DRS lottery 3 times, never won. Once the usher called 10 names for a single seat, no one answered. I was by myself but still did not win.

I think I am really not lucky for this kind of thing.

Chitty. Yesterday I went, and I asked the guy if my friends and I could have orchestra seats if they were available. He said that we'd be better off if we split up, and pulled out a seating chart, all ready to basically let us pick from a few different locations. We ended up sitting in the same seat, four rows - one in front of the other. They were something like 10th-13th row, DEAD center. Perfect seats, $26.25.

They always have seats left, and you usually get a fantastic location for like a quarter of the regular price.

Chitty doesn't have the first 2 rows, center section for rush anymore? They did in May.

re: Best Rush?

Any rush is pretty good. I've tried Wicked somewhere around 15 times since last May and haven't won yet. Avenue Q and Spelling Bee are hard too. ***I lost Dirty Rotten Scoundrels twice, but they don't check ID so if someone doesn't show up, it can be YOU.*** Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf is in the front row Balcony, which is ok. Doubt is last row mezz, which is far, but worth it. Someone said Glengarry is last two mezz and pretty easy. The Constant Wife is last row mezz which is far. Sweet Charity and Chitty are random spots in the orchestra, but Chitty only does rush for night perfs. Lennon is super easy for front row orch. Rent has a lottery that is super easy too. Don't know about Chicago, Mamma Mia, or Movin' Out.

Chip, it's whatever's left in the house.

re: Best Rush?

I didn't win the DRS lottery... there were a lot more people than I anticipated both times I went. It's definitely not as easy as I thought it was going to be, but Wicked is worse... as is Spelling Bee.

re: Best Rush?

Thanks for all the help! I think I'm definitely going to try for a few.

But is it true that Chitty only does rush for evening performances? I was considering trying to see this show on a Wednesday afternoon. Hmm. Do they sell discounted tickets at the theatre box office? And if so, do you know for what price?

re: Best Rush?

Technically, yes. But some friends of mine went to rush for a Sunday matinee, and the person at the box office was basically like "well, normally we don't do rush for matinees, but we have seats, so sure."

re: Best Rush?

Awesome. I'll definitely give it a try. They don't sell out, so hopefully I'll be able to get a seat. Especially if I only need one. Maybe that will help my chances.

Thanks for all the help!

re: Best Rush?

Yeah, you'll get a great spot if you only need one.

re: Best Rush?

It took me about two weeks to win "Avenue Q", good thing it's on my way home from work. Each time there were maybe 40 people at the most. I've not won "Spelling Bee." It's near-impossible, with all the "Wicked" lottery losers doing the "Spelling Bee" lottery too.
