Jane Leeves
Never saw her.
I saw Adam when he came back to Aida (well, that was my second time seeing him) before it close. I always thought his arms were bigger - lol.
yaaaaaaaaay!
*looks longingly at map of U.S.*
ETA - they were. He did some serious working out between Aida and Cabaret.
Adam may be the only "true" broadway guy that I *want* (for lack of a better word).

Susan Egan. Her performance was truely remarkable.
Yayyy I love seeing all the Susan support! She is great!

I adore Susan. She is an amazing and kind-hearted woman.
Same here! Speaking of Susan, I just got the pics back from after the Joe's Pub concert - I'll have to scan them and put them on my fan photo thing, if I can figure out how to do it right this time. All my other ones will go on other websites fine, but don't show up in the fan photos for some reason...
Susan and Natasha seem to be the two best - the first and the last - ironic. (Well, in my eyes at least they're the two best)
Then, I'd say, Alan and Adam.
Has anyone said Alan was bad as the MC? I think it's agreed he was perfect.
No way Alan was bad. That role was his baby.
YEs, Alan owed that role!
He is better than Joel Grey - I saw a video of Joel Grey. But I guess the times were different.
I must say, I love seeing pictures of Liza and Joel together now.
The *role* was totally different, too.
Alan was/is/and always will be Emcee.
I stand corrected, someone doesn't like Alan
From IMDB.com:
"Ok, he's gay, fine, who cares?, stop shoving (and supporting) this uninteresting, 'I'll make an appearence on every show,' boring guy down all our throats! I don't care if he's the homosexual poster child, he's boring and doesn't make for interesting TV. Find someone new... "
Even though that doesn't refer to him in Cabaret.

*sigh* Alan Cumming. He is so perfect as the Emcee. What a man. He is the one person I am dying to meet!

i agree with almost everyone that alan cumming is the ultimate emcee, but as for sally bowles, i saw cabaret many-a-time and my favorite was DEBBIE GIBSON. she poured herself into the role, and out of all the sallys it seems like it would be hardest for her to get into character- she had the farthest to go. she also was one of the secerely nicest people i have ever met when i talked to her at the stage door. i think NATASHA was the worst, becuase she played it the shallowest and couldn't sing. i know sally isn't supposed to be a good singer, natasha is just horrible. and LIZA was in the movie, so obviously thats not a trait they're too strict about...
Yes, he is....
Honestly, there are always going to be people who don't like an actor, regardless. Whatever.
i love, love, love Jill Haworth on the Original Broadway Cast Recording her "Sally" and Natasha's "Sally" are very similar.
i never got to see susan egan in this
but i love her voice...
too bad i missed out on her performance.
did anyone here get a chance to either see/here judi dench's "sally"?
I have to disagree about Deborah Gibson....I couldn't take:
-the lousy accent
-the medicore acting
She was darling to look at and I REALLY wanted to like her and she sounded amazing--too good really--on the songs, and I really BELIEVED her when she sang--but kind of only then. But that was almost negated by the other stuff--any time she was speaking I had to try really hard to not get taken completely out of the moment.
But Vance Avery was fabulous and I still enoyed the show. I DO agree that Gibson did throw herself into it--I could sense her committment to the role and her effort, it just didn't do it for me.

Um, yeah-I don't like Debbie Gibson either. She was my least favorite.
And as for Vance, I always loved seeing him as the Emcee.
