In solidarity I have decided to make another topic with the word wicked in it.
Now....
Who do you all think is the best Sally and why?
For me, it is Natasha. I know she does not have the greatest voice, but I think it is because of that that you can really feel her pain and suffering. Susan was also really good during the dance scenes and the singing.
I hate how some of the Sallys are played like Liza Manelli - who I think is one of the worst Sallys - although her Mein Herr is awesome.
EDIT: Oops on the title!

Sally Bowels. *immature giggling*
I never had the chance to see Cabaret, which makes me really sad. I have heard awesome things about Susan and Natasha though.
Sally Bowles.
And, I only saw Susan, but I thought she was almost perfect... my only complaint may be that she was almost *too* good a singer. Sally isn't supposed to be a good singer. She was sweet, cute and quirky, but gave a very powerful performance, as well. Gah. I miss Cabaret.
Well it's definately not Deborah Gibson
Emcee, interesting that you brought that up - I have read something online about Susan trying to make her voice "worse" for Sally.. I'll see if I can find it.

the only Sally I saw was Teri Hatcher on tour... and i was disappointed... i mean... i liked her, but her singing wasn't great and neither was her accent... oh well... she still looked hot which is all that mattered... ha

I thought Jill Haworth was quite good, but then again, so was Anita Gillette.
Check your personality - I think I read the same thing. She was saying that all of those songs were in Natasha's keys, still a bit too low for her own range, making it so that to sing those things, she had to sing in what would be considered somewhat of an 'unhealthy' way. She still sounded gorgeous, though.
Yep! That's basically what I can remembering reading - I think she also said she had to learn how to sing "badly" without damaging her chords.. I might cry if that were to happen LOL. She also mentioned the cigarettes she chose to smoke to keep her voice healthy.
Right; that's the one! I always wondered how they all smoked during the show and could still sing, but I guess there are ways to be careful. Adam was like a freakin' chimney. *le sigh*
Tovah Feldshuh in Golda's Balcony is a chimney.
But she doesn't have to sing....
No, I know.
But still, she's a one woman show so she needs her voice to be in top shape.
Susan smoked Lite Capri's, according to her website. I am a mess being around anyone smoking, I start to sound like an 80 year old hacking away... I guess they just get used to it.
haha, I'm pretty allergic to cigarette smoke, especially if it's indoors. The first time I saw Cabaret I was like "whoa... hello!" but I survived. Did Sally have to smoke all that much, anyway? I remember it mainly being Emcee and the Kit Kat Girls/Boys... hence my Adam/chimney commment. His voice has taken a lot of sh*t, though. Still, props to them for doing that.
I could never smoke for a role.
Don't they make fake cigarrettes that just give off smoke for a short period of time? I thought I heard that somewhere.
Emcee, did you see Cabaret with Susan AND Adam? If so.. were they just magical together? Words can't describe how mad I am for missing that one.
tasha and alan were magical together
Check your personality - I saw Susan all three times, Adam twice, and Jon Secada (*headdesk*) once. Susan blew my mind the first time I saw her, and every time after that, as I always knew she would. Adam's transformation was simply magic. I still, a year later, can't express how proud I was of him. He gave everything that you'd never expect to see him give. I almost missed him... I can't imagine how much I'd regret that. Emcee's interaction with Sally was never very direct, but if the pair worked, it was amazing to sense a connection like that.
Ohhh I am so wistful right now. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Susan's performance, from what I've heard/read it was brilliant. And Adam, well, how could you NOT love that?
I don't really know about the interactions between Sally and the Emcee, I guess I assumed there was more between them! Oops.
Oh...Dear
Gah. Adam love. My eyes *almost* fell out of my head because they were so huge. I couldn't believe that was actually my Adam.
Emcee's basically the narrator. He does interact with the other characters, but he rarely actually speaks to them; he interacted mostly with the people at the club, obviously, and usually just watched and commented on the scenes with the other characters. He was almost always around, but lurking more than actually being involved. But you have to factor in things like the pineapple scene and the pole dance as "interactions" as far as his scenes went, I think. Yay, this is fun... you can't ever talk this show to death.
I hope they revive the revival again - if that made ANY sense!
