You have a powerhouse score, brilliant choreography, endearing characters, a fully realized storyline and you can't help but smile. What else could you ask for?

I think Spamalot, DRS, or Rent. I mean, I havn't seen DRS or Spamalot, but I assume they're amazing, right? And Rent is a definite, by far.
Edit: What's wrong with me? I forgot Wicked! It might not be the absolute best show, but it's great.

Best new musical: Toss up between Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Spamalot
Best established musical: Rent

Stupidest plot? Well, if you don't enjoy the plot, then that has nothing to do with the show as it is based on a novella. Now, disliking the book of the show is totally different but has nothing to do with the plot.
And Elphie, you shouldn't just assume that Spamalot and DRS are the best shows on Broadway right now. I think they are far from the best. Sure, DRS is entertaining, but Spamalot, in my opinion, is extremely amateur compared to many other shows, including the three shows it was nominated with.

Bwaybaby, i agree, I love the music, but I absolutely hate the plot. I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! its so unfufilling.

For me personally - The Producers, DRS and Avenue Q with Piazza and Bee right up there too. I'm a big fan of musical comedy, as you can probably tell.
