CAP 21 is the NYU summer theater program no? I think Interlochen is the most difficult to get into, the ratio of acceptance is 1 out of 23 and for CAP it's 1 out of 17, atleast that's what it was last year, and interlochen throws a really good show. But there's a lot of local theater programs that throw awesome shows... are there similar programs like in New York or anywhere else that are prestegious that you know of?
Northwestern University has the National High School Institute each summer:

That one's really cool and it's similar to the Yale program, it's only for Jr. who have really good grades and it's excellent. I'm so indecisive about this summer b/c I don't know which of all these are the best. Some times even the hardest to get into aren't the most respected amoung colleges and other important people.
does CAP 21 offer scholarships? it is priceeeey!

I listed all of them (except the ones I don't know hence the reason for this thread) and except Yale, Northwestern and USDAN. And NYU offers scholarships all the camps offer scholarships but they tend to give major advantages to those who pay full or donate stuff it's sick... same goes for entry of the school, the ratio of entry to Ticsh is so mad and yet everyone I know who applied early even though it's sooo much more expensive, and also donated money b/c they are rich got in, all three of them from the same high-school! Pretty much same goes for camp.
USDAN! I go there currently and this will be my fourth summer.

I've never actually been there, but I've talked to some people that have and they say it's amazing... One of the most helpful, fun and phenomenal expiriences of their lives. They have guest artists come and teach master classes in almost every aspect of musical theatre imaginable. They work with you by putting you into groups by skill level within the different aspects and get you up to speed on the aspects you are least skilled in, training you to become a triple theat. There is some kind of performance/revue at the end of the 3-week session in Florida. I'm auditioning in the next couple of years... it is really an amazing program.
PM Jwei123- he told me a lot about it & clarified things I read on the website and reservations I had

I did the Yale acting program the summer between my junior and senior years in high school. It was probably one of the most amazing experiences I've had. They tell you that it's the 1st year of the grad program condensed into 5 weeks and it's absolutely true. I definitely learned so much. Give it a go.
is usdan only for people in ny?

NYU did not only accept rich children. In fact, it declined many rich children.
A child of an extreme celebrity was declined, even though he or she had a very good gpa, great selection classes, attended a prep school, had a reccomendation letter from Mr. Tisch, and is the son or daughter of one of the most famous figures in America. (A friend of mine).
Talent might have something to do with the selection process. Just maybe.

JC14, how do I apply to the Yale Program?

I would say the CAP21 program in NYC. I did a world premiere musical at a professional theater here in CT that was co-written by a man named John Allen, whose daughter Mana Allen is a professor for CAP21/NYU. She specifically told me to audition for the program and I would get in. I'm not sure if you are male or female, but she said they are always looking for boys. It's supposed to be an excellent program.

Vassar College also has an apprentice program that is run by New York Stage & Film. Last summer they held the world premeire of Good Vibrations there, though they almost exclusively do plays (Mr. Goldwyn, Sideman, Year With Frog & Toad, Chesapeake among many others are shows that have transfered to Bway or off-Bway). Apprentices do free outdoor Shakespeare, take classes in acting, voice & movement, and help with tech on the mainstage shows. They also tend to have lots of big-name actors around. Last summer they had Lucy Liu, Marcia Gay Harden, & Kieran Culkin. PM me w/ questions - I did it a few years ago.

The CAP21 Summer program is incredible. I did it last summer -- there are two different ones, one is through CAP21 and the other is CAP21 through NYU (It's the Tisch Summer High School Program for Drama -- CAP21). They are both great and have pretty much the same classes/teachers -- one is just a bit longer.
They also prepare you alot for the college audition experience -- I did the CAP21 program this past summer and I just found out I was accepted into CAP21 for College. (So they certainly don't hurt as far as college admissions go!)
USDAN's mostly New York, but it has from all over the tri-state area.
For those of you who live in Canada, most effectively in Ontario....

as maybethistime said earlier, i can't do anything but rave for ANN REINKING'S BROADWAY THEATRE PROJECT! It was the most incredible experience of my life, and because the age range is flexible (16-mid twenties), I can experience it again! If you have ANY questions whatsoever, please PM me about it, because I feel that it is among the, if not THE, best summer theatre programs out there. If you go for nothing else, go to learn from some of the INCREDIBLE master class artists...some past ones have included:
-Ben Vereen
-Ann Reinking
-Patrick Wilson
-Frank Wildhorn
-Julie Andrews
-Gwen Verdon
-Paige Davis
-Gregory Hines
-Patti LuPone
-Charlotte D'Amboise
-Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis
-Austin Pendleton
PM me for more details! It could be the best summer of your life....it was for me!

I had a meeting with NYU audition board and they don't take into consideration at all your GPA even if it's between you and another person unless one of the board members wants to consider it in his opinion, nor the school you attended, they said they really solely on finding "it". But everyone knows early admission people to any school have a much better chance of getting in then the normal admissions. I was just saying it's really hard to get a full scolarship to NYU or the summer program b/c it's hard enough to get in even if you pay full price.
