Still not mentioned here and I am always the one who brings this up but. Ally Sheedy in HEDWIG, ugh!

I wouldn't go as far as to call Vanessa Williams stunt casting. Yes she is a celeb, but she does have a BFA in musical theatre. So at least she has training

Drew Lachey in RENT. He wasn't horrible, but he wasn't particularly good, either.

Hasn't happened yet, but the concept is frightening enough:

This is a popular choice but David Hasselhoff...oy! Was that a mess.

I did NOT like Molly Ringwald in Cabaret...

re: Best/Worst Stunt Casting Ever?

Drew Lachey shouldn't have been allowed on Broadway. He could sing the part allright, but there was NOTHING else going on. one of the most boring performances i've ever seen an actor give.

Aside from the "I hate you" key-change in ALAYM, Joey McIntyre was almost respectable in Wicked.

Best: Idina Menzel in Wicked. I know you might not call it "stunt" casting, but they brought her in because of her name; and (despite some opinions) she ROCKED as Elphie.
