Best & Worst VAMPIRE Musical!

The nominees are:

1. Jim Steinman's "Tanz der Vampire" (German version)
2. Jim Steinman's "Dance of the Vampires" (Broadway version)
3. Bernard J. Taylor's "Nosferatu: The Vampire"
4. Frank Wildhorn's "Dracula"
5. Elton John's "Lestat"

My background with these shows is: I saw "Tanz der Vampire", "Dance of the Vampires", "Dracula" and "Lestat". I have the cast recording of "Nosferatu: The Vampire".

My vote for the best goes to "Tanz der Vampire" - hands down. My vote for the worst goes to "Lestat" - it was a close race between "Lestat" and "Dracula", but I did think "Dracula" was a better show.

Of the one's I've seen, I would rank them:

1). Tanz der Vampire
2). Dance of the Vampires
3). Dracula
4). Lestat

While I thought "DOTV" was pretty bad, the 2-4 place shows were all bad. What I liked about "DOTV" that I did not like about "Dracula" and "Lestat" was that the music was so dull and boring - in both shows. At least "DOTV" kept me entertained....if I wasn't laughing at what a bozo Michael Crawford was, I was enjoying the music. Now "TDV" rocks! It was one of the best shows I have ever seen. With "Nosferatu" - it is interesting, to say the least - strange! strange! strange!

I agree with Dracula over DOTV

Some other Vampire CD's are

I've never seen any of them, but I have the CD of Tanz der Vampire and love it. It's a fantastic musical, and being in German makes it sound all the more interesting!

Heard most of Dance of the Vampires, and it just sounds odd. Nothing like Tanz, don't know why...Shame it didn't do well on broadway, perhaps they changed it too much. It should come to the west end in its pure german form!

I've only seen two: "Dance of the Vampires" and "Lestat". They were both bad but at least "Dance" was camp. "Lestat" was worse.

Me too, touch me-I thought DOTV was so bad it was fabulous. Couldn't get enough of it!

LESTAT was really bad, but not in that "so bad it's good" way.
