As I have mentioned, I am planning on being in NYC on July 1. Of course, Book of Mormon tickets are sold out.
Debating whether to do SRO or just purchase a ticket second-hand.
If I just purchase a ticket and pay the premium, where should I look? I have been looking at StubHub, and prices are a little high right now.
I have read comments that it is possible to purchase tickets the day or week of the show. I have heard about the lottery, but I have heard of some premiums seats being sold directly from the Box Office. Any have any suggestions on this?

Yes, you're paying a ****load of fees, but you're getting them through the source. In NYC, go directly to the box office or TKTS. Buying them on the street will most likely be a scam. I've heard of people paying upwards of $50 in fees through third-party sites and tourist centers.

Well definitely Book of Mormon. Just need help on these tickets.
Have tickets to Lion King (no comment).
Still undecided between Catch me if you Can, MotherF in the Hat, or How to Succeed. I think I can still get tix through the Box Office on these.

Posted: 6/14/11 at 1:14pmI wouldn't stand in line at TKTS. You can get discounted tickets on broadwaybox.com and save the hassle of Times Square. That's where I buy all of mine when I don't do a rush/lotto.

Posted: 6/14/11 at 1:29pmHas anyone suggested the cancellation line? It usually forms about 5 or 6 PM on the night of the show.

How about trying through Broadway Cares/EFA? They have ticket packages available and at least you know the tickets are genuine and the profit is going to a worthy cause. (I looked at Givenik, but they don't have Book of Mormon listed.)
Here's the link for BC/EFA:

just thought of this: very hit-or-miss, but craig's list sometimes includes postings from people with last minute schedule conflicts who can't use their tickets.
(it also includes postings from all sorts of scammers, of course -- some even members of Congress, apparently -- but i've bought and sold through their tickets forum several times without incident. just be careful, use common sense, and have tickets in one hand when the cash leaves the other!)

Thanks guys.
As whatever2 indicated, I am mostly looking for an outlet to purchase tickets for a sold out show like Book of Mormon.
I might try craigslist, but that is definitely a risk. Broadwaybox.com looks like it might be better than StubHub.
I called BC/EFA tickets on Dreaming's suggestion, and they are sold out. Thanks for the suggestion. Definitely use this in the future.

Posted: 6/15/11 at 1:29pmSouth Street Seaport has a TKTS booth as well that doesn't have ALL the shows on discount, but the line is MUCH easier to handle. The time I went I showed up about 20 minutes early (before it opened) and got fantastic seats without waiting for a while after they finally opened.
