..does someone know if the Mezzanine (front, of course) section would be better than Orchestra for best overall viewing?
Since "Tale" has quite an extensive set, with seemingly busy action at most times, I wonder if this would be the best seating arrangement. And, of course, middle preffered.

I've sat in both the front row mezz and in the row E of the orchestra (for different shows). Personally, I like the mezzanine better, but that's me. I had great views from either seat. Unless you have a seat in the orchestra that's somewhat close to the stage, I would go with the front row mezz seat.

Thanks, Bwayfan4--I think so, too. I think in the Orchestra, maybe, since you have to look up to the stage, the "whole" effect thing going on in the stage (including lighting and movement), will not be as effective viewing as Mezz.
Well, unless someone else has been there and can confirm otherwise about the Orchestra, I'll stick to the Mezz...
Just a note, I looked, and it does not seem like individual tickets are for sale yet, just groups.

For example, everyone is complaining about trying to get South Pacific tickets right now. I found a ticket for July...front row of the loge. (Obviously I grabbed it) So sometimes going to the theatre alone has its advantages. Good luck!

Well, by the looks of it, I might have to resort to going alone (which I don't mind one bit, and I agree, it can be an advantage...), because so far nobody can go when I want to go. The only thing I am not crazy about is being in NYC alone, for safety reasons. I'm still working on companions, though.
Thanks for the info! I'm glad to hear you got to see South Pacific, one I would have loved to see. If I can afford it, and it is still playing, I would love to see it when I come. Is it as good as they say?

I think there is a DEFINITE advantage to buying a solo ticket. I often get fabulous seats that way...with short notice, as well.
And I often go into NY alone...I have never had a problem. I usually walk everywhere...even after the theater. If I'm doing a LATE night show (at the zipper or the LB) and am by myself...I will spring for a cab back to my hotel.

Love going solo. :) I agree about getting great seats that way even to the last minute.
And really? Being alone in NYC is not that big of a deal. Just stay on the main paths, walk like you know where you're going, and you should be fine. I walk everywhere ~ including home after a show. And I live in Bed-Stuy. Just stop watching L&O for a little while if it makes you that nervous. :) (I had to tell my parents to stop watching them when I moved up here.)
edited to remove Curtains info since I re-read. Sorry!

Posted: 5/10/08 at 8:21amJust FYI, I would not get tickets for the front row of the Mezz because often there is a bar right there and gets in the way, I have had the problem and it's quite annoying.

Posted: 5/10/08 at 9:27amI agree with everyone. I have been to the city numerous times by myself, and have never had any problems. Like jordangirl said, know the route you are going to take and stay on the crowded streets. There are always people out late at night. DRSislove is correct...there are no bars at the front row mezz at the Hirschfeld theatre.

Thanks dramamama and jordangirl for your advice :) I was a little worried, being female and going alone, but you have given me encouragement to ditch my efforts to get a companion!
So, it will be safe to get "front row" then...? I do remember the dreaded "bar" in most theatres' Mezz sections
Would not want to make that mistake on this one...

I don't know about the seating in the theatre(I've never been in it) but about the going alone to NYC alone part I know alot about.
As a single young female I go alone all the time and never had a problem either. I have even taken the subway after a show and walked on some pretty seedy streets after midnight(not recommended though). But it does help that I'm 5'10" and always looks P.O.'d when I'm walking around or on the subway...LOL

Posted: 5/11/08 at 7:52amI've never felt safest in any city in the world, as I've felt in NYC !! Common sense is all you need and you'll have a fabulous, no-worries time ! Plus, New Yorkers are incredibly friendly and helpful for anything you'll need !

Posted: 5/11/08 at 11:47amI think my favorite seats in the theater are also the first row of the front mezzanine - but i prefer the aisle because i have long legs! That would be Mezzanine A 101 or 115. Thanks for supporting the show, Bway Babe2!

Posted: 5/12/08 at 12:14amEven without the bar in the front mezz - do you miss part of the stage because of the hall wall and feel the need to lean forward, or is it a unobstructed view? Thanks!

Yes, NYCtheater, I'd like to know this, too. The thing about the wall confused me, also. Someone explain?
Is that "the" JillS that I am thinking about...? If it is, what an honor!!! No words can describe how highly I think of your work! Besides the fact that I also admire you inmensely :) I have taken you as a role model (I happen to like composing, although I cannot read music;the fact that you taught yourself music (if it is you...), amazes me, really, and gives me hope to do the same (I have since then bought myself a music pad, and some "lessons in 3 easy steps" (is that possible to do...?).
As far as my support for the show, I cannot express how strong I feel about it. Here's hoping for a very looooong, successful run on Broadway
Thanks for posting and addressing me, as well...
(BTW, your b-day I think answeared my question, thanks...)
