I know there have been such threads before, and I searched, not coming across a legit thread that really answered my question. What are the best sites to buy broadway tickets? I haven't been to NYC since I moved back in 2006, and I'm making my first trip back this month to catch some shows! :) I've been out of the ticket buying game and used to have my sites - but now the only thing I can find so far that seems reliable is Broadway.com ...

Also, is Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder often on TKTS?

Just go to the show's official website and there'll be a link. The majority of Broadway shows use telecharge.

Broadway.com is a broker with hefty markups.

You may want to check for any discount codes at BroadwayBox.com or Playbill.com first. Telecharge.com and Ticketmaster.com are the regular sites used to purchase tickets. Occasionally I'll use Stubhub.com to find "hard to get tickets."

Gentleman's Guide is often listed at TKTS. You may also want to download the TKTS app if you have a smartphone so you can see what's been on the TKTS board.

Depending on how long you're going to be in town, and how important it is to have pre-planned your theater experiences, you can also wait until you're here and visit the box offices. There are only a few shows that are "impossible" to get tickets to. If you're willing to flexible, you might find your best options will come from a combination of the MANY - and I mean many - options available for variable priced seats.

Gentle's Guide to Love and Murder is always on TKTS.

What I'd do is take a look at the box office grosses on this web site. You'll immediately see how the various shows are selling. Depending on your budget and what you want to see, you may be able to do quite well waiting.

For those shows that are "must sees", the suggestion above regarding the show's individual web sites is a good one.

You can download the TKTS app for you cell phone. It gives you what shows are available pretty much in real time in all three locations. We use this a lot for day of tickets.

Also check out Broadwayforbrokepeople.com they will tell you about the rush policies and lottery policies for all the shows. I highly recommend rushing a show (Just make sure it is General Rush and not Student Rush, unless you are a student and see how many tickets each person can get as some shows are only one tickets per person). It's a lot of fun to meet people from all over while waiting in line for the box office to open.

We use discount codes from Broadwaybox.com to get our tickets sometimes. Just watch the surcharges.

GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE has commonly been on TKTS, though not for every performance it seems.

If you're ok with waiting until you're in the city (as you would be were you to wait to use TKTS for the discounts) the best "site" to buy tickets is always the theatre box offices-- no fuss with shipping & handling or convenience fees.

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

If you are willing to pay full price (without paying Telecharge/Ticketmaster outrageous fees) the theatre box office is always the best.

During weeknights TKTS is good (if you aren't looking for THE BOOK OF MORMON, THE LION KING or WICKED tickets).

you don't have to pay full price at the box office...assuming they still have seats available under the discount code. You just need to bring the code with you.

But if by BEST you mean availability and price, go directly to the source: telecharge or ticketmaster. (will only be one or the other). Any other site, including bway.com, will have broker fees attached.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
