What are your favorite torch songs? You know, songs were people lament about a lost love, "My lover done me wrong, but I still love him/her", or "Where did my lover go?" songs. In short, a song where the singer "holds a torch" for someone. My picks:

Fanny Brice's "My Man" from ZIEGFELD FOLLIES
"Bill" from SHOW BOAT
"Goodbye, Love" from RENT
"Lover, Come Back to Me" from THE NEW MOON
"But Not for Me" from GIRL CRAZY and CRAZY FOR YOU
"Where Has My Hubby Gone Blues" from NO, NO, NANETTE

BONUS: My favorite ANTI-torch song is "Men" from LORELEI. Carol Channing was absolutely HILARIOUS!

I've always thought that the quintessential "torch song" was "Black Coffee."

I agree with Veuve -- Black Coffee is murder!

I also agree with MasterLcZ, "Too Late Now" is such a delicate and heart-felt torch song. "Time Heals Everything" hurts!
