I have seen Linda in concert and absolutely would not see her in concert again nor would I recommend that anyone else see her in concert. I do agree that she is certainly a powerhouse, her vocal power is impressive, but other than that, in concert she cannot act, is boring, stiff, and her cockiness on stage is just annoying to watch. In concert (let's face it, all the time) her diction is also really poor so if you don't know all the songs she's singing you miss a lot.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I do not know Last Five Years but as that came up more than once I will definitely look into it. Company does have some fabulous music but we just closed a production of that. What has William Finn done other than New Brain and Falsettos? I don't know anything about Elegies. All I know of Finn's is New Brain and Falsettos and I'm not too fond of New Brain except for a few songs.

thinking of other repertoire she's sung, I think she has the range for it Wicked. I could see her being really good in the role. It would certainly be quite a different take on the role. I would be very interested to hear a softer side of the songs... On a sidenote, who is playing Fiero now?

I'm glad to hear from someone else who was able to see Linda Mugelston! I was just so floored by her performance! As an aspiring Broadway performer myself, I just couldn't imagine being in Ms. Mugelston's place and seeing someone come in who was so clearly inferior.

You Could Drive a Person Crazy is a great song (I just closed a run of the show as Joanne) but I would be nervous about the lyrics for any type of audition in terms of age apropriate-ness. I think I'd go with Step Too Far..It's a great piece and switching it around wouldn't be difficult.

I saw this show soon after Donna began experiencing her health issues, before Brooke Sheilds had even been announced as the replacement for Donna, and the understudy who was in for Donna, Linda Mugleston, could not have been more flawless. Vocally, acting wise, dance wise, she was phenomenal. She could have easily played this role on a regular basis, and for the director to say the show was closing as a result of the inability to replace Brooke is a slap in the face to Linda. I did not know that there was a recording of this available. Where were you able to find it? I would be really interested in hearing it. I am assuming this is based upon the book The Woman in White, if so has anyone read the book? How well does the show stick with the book?
